Does this mean I don't want to see a striker or DM added? Of course not, but this is the most optimistic I have been since the 07-08 season (where we had the league lead for so long and then Eduardo got broken by a horror tackle).
I watched that match a few weeks ago. I still shed a tear when I see that part of the match. Totally wrecked our season

That season also had the CL match against Pool where Walcott made that amazing run to put Arsenal ahead on aggregate late, but then the Gunners committed a penalty and lost in devastating fashion.

Boy, that season sure was a missed opportunity.

Santi and Walcott sign new deals... OMG, Santi only was on £80,000. He deserves every bit of what Ozil is on or at least what Theo is getting. Theo is getting £130,000 a week. To me slams the door on a striker unless it's Benzema.

Also we reportedly made a £25 million bid for Busquests, are willing to go MUCH higher and are willing to pay up to £160,000 a week to get him in the fold. Honestly, getting him in excites me more than Benzema does.

Busquets would be an interesting signing indeed, I am curious of how well he would do in the EPL though.

Santi definitely deserved the pay raise. He was massive for us last season.

I know it's a glorified friendly, but it's still a nice morale boost ahead of the season.

Also, Ox's strike was pure class.

Any confidence going forward that Arsenal can have against Chelsea is vital, so I'm thrilled to see the win today.

If Chelsea won, the narrative would still be that Arsene can't be Mourinho, so I have no issues with this being treated as a instance of Arsene getting the job done.

Still hoping Arsene has a surprise on deadline day to give us a realistic shot at the title, but either way, really looking forward to this season as this team continues to grow and evolve together.

Yup. Hell, just getting goal went a long way for us. Shoot we hadn't scored on them in almost 3 seasons. But yeah good defensive solidarity, Bellerin held his own versus Hazard, Cech did Cech things and the Ox was absolutely fantastic all day. If the league is our goal, we are still two signings short IMHO for that long grind. We are a great knockout competition side and i think we will be a tough out in Europe and will take a big scalp this year along the way, but over 38 matches, I fancy Chelsea still as we speak.

I heard someone on Talk Sport say if you took Matic and Costa off Chelsea and gave them to us, Arsenal would probably win the league. So we know what we have to do, we got the money and would probably have to pay stupid money to get the targets we want, but let's do it DAMMIT!!'

I like how Mourinho states they were the better team because they had more initiative and more chances through possession as Arsenal decided to defend with 10 men on their own line.. oh Mo you funny.

He actually gave it to some Arsenal kid with the explanation along the lines of "I don't keep any medals so why not give it to some kid who will remember this day a lot more now..."
