Seems like nothing is going to happen. Eh, we added a world class GK, we need a striker, but the market for them is very expensive.

It's not about throwing money around. It's about not budging from the valuation you put on players. If Arsenal overspent on like two KEY players, they'd make a serious run at the title. Until then, they won't.

Morgan Schneiderlin and Christian Benteke - boom. Pretty much all you needed to do.

The reported issue on Schneiderlin was wages, not a fee, which the club just is not going to budge on at this point.

As for Benteke, I don't think he's a striker that wins us the league, so I'll take 3rd/4th without him as opposed to 3rd/4th with his £32.5m fee.

Well, you just highlighted another problem with a club of your stature. Wage limits. I find it to be totally ridiculous.

Again, it's not about throwing money around here as if it's Monopoly money. But don't you want them meeting wage demands of players that will help them?

Oh I'm not saying the club shouldn't be willing to spend more on wages—but they've just made it clear that they will not, so I don't allow myself to be surprised when we don't want to pay them.

If numbers on the internet are close, we just didn't want to pay Schneiderlin in the same realm as Ozil, Giroud, Sanchez, Cech, and Walcott.

Should we have offered him as much as them? Absolutely. But should we try and compete with Man City on wages? Nope.

It's crazy that he was only signed for £24m.

Even Heathrow Airport is laughing at us.

What pisses me off is that I pay north of $500 to be a member of the Gold Gooners group to pay another £200 to go matches and we can't over pay for a player or two when you need it. We by far have the most expensive match day experience, yet we don't wanna do what it takes to win despite passionate and deep pocketed fans. It's always just enough to just get fourth and it pisses me off. I understood when we first moved to the Emirates, but we've been free from those restrictions for 4 years now. Now it's just stupidity and stinginess. Rumor was we didn't wanna pay £45 million for Cavani which is a very valuation. It's whatever to me to this point. I'll still watch every week with the lads and cheer, but if I hear one excuse from Arsene, I'll move to the Wenger out coalition. This gotten past ridiculous now.

Yeah I can understand frustration but what can you do, I still think for Arsenal having higher ticket prices than almost anyone else in the EPL is a little silly. I will say after going to Emirates Stadium for the first time last year I really miss the Highbury, got to go a few times when I was kid, and there is something a little more special about that stadium IMO.

                      Because

                      1. Like CDawg mentions, our club is the most expensive one to be a fan of. We pay £100 just to actually see the team we love in action for 90 minutes. Season ticket holders pay a full salary. It's £55 for a silver membership just to be able to buy tickets. A ******* HAMBURGER will run you £10. I call this extortion.

                      2. Lack of ambition? Or just arrogance? Is us not buying a clear sign of lack of ambition or is it just downright arrogance from Wenger? If he believes we are good enough to win a PL and compete for the CL and we can't be strengthened in any position, then he's gone mad. Or maybe it's just Wenger and the board settling for another fourth place and maybe, just maybe another FA cup.

                      3. Think about the signal you're sending to players like Sanchez and Özil who actually want to win trophies. Getting fourth or third is not the reason they came to Arsenal. Also, players like Coq will feel no competition at all. Who's Wenger going to play there in case **** goes bad? Flamini?

                      4. There's a huge difference between us being third last in the league table when it comes to spending and throwing money around like it grows on trees. If you want "top, top quality" (Wenger's words) you have to OVERPAY. The Benzemas and Reus's of this world won't come cheap. In the football world of today you have to SPEND. Like it or not. If you don't want to spend then change your ambitions and prices so they match your transfer policy.

                      5. Our rivals have gotten stronger, we haven't.

                      6. We didn't even need a world class DM, only a world class striker and a young prospect to compete with Coq a la Rabiot.

                      7. It's the same story, every year. We're always short in 1 or 2 positions. No idea how this squad is going to compete in 3 competitions. Just wait until we get decimated by injuries again and Wenger starts making excuses. We're one injury away from disaster. If Coquelin gets injured we're truely screwed.

@Royce, the snugness bro, the snugness.

I doubt Arsene wasn't looking to bring players in. That's absurd.

If Schneiderlin was set on United, there's nothing that could have been done.

It's clear RM had no intentions of selling Benzema.

A club like Arsenal can absolutely afford a 32m "risk"

Also, you are under rating Benteke. With less than zero service at Villa he was scoring around 15 goals per season. With the kind of service Arsenal could give him he'd outscore Giroud. Benteke is one of the most complete strikers in the league, crazy how many people sleep on him.
