The million dollar question is who do you pair with him? I’d say Sokratis. They played well with together before he got hurt.

That's also what I would go with for right now. I don't think Luiz is done in the first team, and he's massively missed the mark I expected him to hit—but his performances should cost him a starting spot for a few matches.

I'd actually much rather see him in a deep midfield role than in the center of our defense right now.

I’d be willing to try Luiz as a DM, but not away at United.

The other million dollar question I have is the primary tactic going forward going to be a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1 with a CAM behind Auba?

To piggyback off of that, which midfield:

          Xhaka/Douzi/Ozil, Xhaka/Douzi/Ceballos, or Xhaka/Douzi/Willock?

If we’re going off of the notion that Torreira is on the bench and will be used as an Obi-Mikel type sub, I feel like those are the current midfield options.

Back line seems like it will be Tierney/Holding/Papa/Chambers, which I’m ok with.

EDIT: I forgot AMN is available to come back, so do you start him at RB and make Chambers/Holding the CBS?

It seems the only other selection up for debate is either Nelson or Saka at LW.

Ashley Young vs. Pepe is a matchup that needs to be exploited 100 percent.

The midfield I want to see will never happen without injury, suspension, or other certain circumstances.

            Torreira, Ceballos, Guendouzi

Energy, tenacity, tackling ability, passing ability, and pace.

I always felt like this was his best position IMO.

Very bummed holding not starting. Good grief what are they waiting on?

Also feel offense will lack creativity...

I would imagine the medical team is in no rush to clear him for a two game week, I assume he'll get the nod for Liege on the 3rd though.

I'm over Emery not picking teams to win against teams we should be playing to win against.

To this day I have no issue with how he approached the Liverpool match. It's matches like this where I'm left frustrated and confused.

As for Pepe, I just think he needs time to adjust. Some players take more time than others, and he needs time. Yes, it was a large transfer, but he doesn't need to live up to that within his first ten matches.

I also just don't think Emery has an actual plan on how to utilize him.

I think (hope?) he will be MUCH more effective when our first choice RB returns..

Agreed. I saw the sheet and though there was no creativity from the MF and that’s exactly how it played out until Ceballos came on. Guendouzi was brilliant again, Torreria needs to be playing DM, and the other MF needs to be Ceballos, Willock, or Özil.

Making Xhaka captain was a big mistake with regard to team sheets IMO.

Idk, Pepe has been consistently in places where he’s 1v1 and he just hasn’t produced. I’m not calling him a bust by any means BUT I think blaming Emery for his lack of quality so far is harsh.

I dunno but I just hope he isn't Gervinho all over again.
