Through as group winners playing a bunch of U21s. Well done, bring on City.
If Pepe can’t go I’m all for a front 3 of Martinelli-Auba-Saka.

After Arsenals China statement, I gotta say, I don't think this is the club for me. TOS says I won't go in to detail, but it's been a fun ride y'all, enjoy the club.Support Local Sports

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
For the last few years I've always felt as if I've grown further away from the club—not the players, but the club whether that was the ownership or also previously the management.
As the club continues to evolve into even more of a commercial juggernaut first before anything else, I often ask myself if I could just stop watching, stop following, etc. Could I start following a smaller, supporter-owned club in Germany, for example?
I don't know, but if I personally started to detach entirely from anything owned or operated in an unethical manner at some level, I'd be pretty detached from society as we now stand—which is unfortunate, but that's the travesty of a world we're now living in. But, maybe Arsenal is one of those things that I can do that with eventually.
To say I'm disappointed with the club's statement is a massive, massive understatement.Comment

I was already a little out the door with the Rwanda stuff, this was really a bridge too far. Honestly between things like this (that prove its 99% Money and 1% Soccer) and the absolutely limp response by multiple organizations to racism, it's beginning to feel like soccer may not be a sport for people like me.Support Local Sports

Honestly suntan, I feel like every club would have taken the same stance. China’s a huge market that is just recently being tapped. Too much $ out there for clubs to do the right thing.

Oh I know. Like when we had the talk about how I'm not emotionally invested in my favorite sports teams because I understand I could kill myself tomorrow and they wouldn't notice. I get that money is far more important that human lives. It just really sets me back when they actually say it.Support Local Sports

I'm not sure what global sport at this point is not encountering the same issues.
Show me an ethical, global, wealthy for profit organization and I'll give you more time to find their skeletons.
It doesn't mean it should be ignored—I just wouldn't know where to turn to not encounter it. Like I said, supporting a much smaller club is something I've often thought about, whose goals are more sporting than commercial.
As for on the pitch—Arsenal are currently dreadful in this match.Comment

Even more honestly, the Arsenal thing gets me because Hector Bellerin tweeted Labour support the day before, and Arsenal sure felt no need to distance themselves from that and their "apolitical" organization. Özil says his thing and they basically have to frantically write a statement to save face in China. I'm not stupid, I also realize that the political divide in the UK is much different than the divide in China, it just feels so scummy that I feel the need to wash my hands of it.Support Local Sports
