Awesome strikes from Jones and Wood. Looking much more dangerous in the final third tonight.

Dempsey, man. That guy is making it happen. I like seeing him show some positive emotion as well, especially when Wood scored. Jones is showing his value as well. Let's just keep going, and get more goals, but be ready for Costa Rica to kick it up a notch.Comment

re: Official USMNT/USWNT Thread
seriously, though...what does he provide the team? I want him to succeed, and I'm asking this question seriously...
He tracks back really well...doesn't do much when he's back there sometimes, but he's there. He seems to have his heart in the game...but...what else?
I'm more pleased by the clean sheet than the 4 goals...which I'm also happy with, of course.Australian Rules Football...just sayin'Comment

re: Official USMNT/USWNT Thread
I actually saw him make some pretty good touches last night? He held the ball well on the sidelines considering how cramped it was for Yedlin to get space. Zardes also turned his man a couple times and was able to face goal multiple times. He made 1 or 2 bad touches early on, but after that he was actually pretty strong. Had a confident first touch in the box, then just shot barely over. He played well.
His first touch is bad. Even if it wasn't a couple times last night it's still been consistently bad for a long time. He has great pace and shows flashes of technical ability to go with it but it's not consistent enough to warrant the starting spot. Maybe JK thinks Pulisic is too young to start right now or play heavy minutes but Nagbe can play the position as well. I just haven't seen anything from Gyasi that makes me think he deserves to be in the starting 11 every match. Definitely deserves a spot on the team though.
They seemed to realize last night that switching to a formation that had Wood play more centrally with Dempsey a little deeper worked well on counters. Costa Rica's goalkeeper was terrible but they worked the ball into dangerous spots.Arsenal Gunners|Kentucky Wildcats|Cincinnati BengalsComment

I wouldn't disagree with putting Pulisic or Nagbe there either, honestly, so it's not about being a super fan of Zardes - it's just more so providing a different insight as to maybe what those decisions are based on. I only get defensive about DeuceComment
