    Official USMNT Thread

Zardes was very active and saved Yedlin who looked lost after late runs more than a couple times. Zardes made some good runs on goal and was threatening in the final third.
There is no doubt he could have had better touches and more clinical finishing, but it would be a stretch to say he didn't provide anything to the squad.

He only looked bad because Bobby looked more awesome out left with Dempsey.

I think Wood's shown consistently that he's this team's best striker. Dempsey has been much more effective playing as a number 10 slightly deeper than the striker. Wood looked a little uncomfortable playing as wide as he has been until they changed their formation around 35 minutes in last night.

As far as Gyasi goes, I agree that his work rate is good and he does get himself into good attacking positions off the ball but it's frustrating to watch him lose the ball as consistently as he does. Some of my frustration with him does stem from wanting to see Pulisic and Nagbe get a shot in the first team.

Hopefully they look to counter more going forward. Even when they control possession like they did for awhile against Colombia they never look comfortable.

John Brooks has looked very impressive so far. A back line that includes him, hopefully Miazga, with Yedlin and Fabian out wide is promising.

Wood just has so much fight and is rapidly becoming my favorite player of this next gen of players. Playing in Germany seems to be molding him into the type of player we need upfront. Can't wait to see what he can do in Hamburg.

I also can't wait to see Nagbe get some meaningful time out there. And although Pulisic is the future, I'd still error on the side of experience at the senior level as JK has been doing for now.

If we were guaranteed a spot after the first two matches then I'm all for starting those two.

I'm probably the only American not impressed with Yedlin. He just makes way too many mental mistakes for my liking.

John Brooks is playing like a man possessed in this tournament. Breaking up a 3 v 1 attempt by Paraguay...baller.

This is why I was impressed with Zardes' movement v. Costa Rica.

            It pays off.

His jersey needs extra washing tonight. So dirty...also great job by Zardes on the assist for Dempsey's goal.

Shoot the ball Zardes! That should have been 2-0.

Zardes passed up a point blank shot. Gotta at least force the goalie to make a save.

Solid defending tonight. Would like to see that continue moving forward.

Beautiful grind-out win. Teaching moment for Yedlin. Pulling that when in control and up 1-0 in such an important match simply cannot happen.
