I'm boycotting the US team since the staff is being so disrespectful to the second greatest USA player ever. Haven't the coaches on Team USA heard of leadership? Without Donovan they are missing their long time leader...

I get being emotional and shocked over the decision.

But boycotting the team over it? The way it was handled was disrespectful? I can't agree with any of that. We support the team as it is named. Period.

I'm boycotting the US team since the staff is being so disrespectful to the second greatest USA player ever. Haven't the coaches on Team USA heard of leadership? Without Donovan they are missing their long time leader...

Jurgen and his staff are more qualified than anyone on this board to make soccer-related decisions.

Yes but being qualified doesn't make the decision the right one. And by the roster cut being disrespectful, cutting your all time leading scorer and all time leader in appearances sure seems disrespectful to me... Plus he still has a role to play on the team, it's not like he's a scrub and they had no choice.

You saw the FIFA Pots...BS all the way. We were in the same pot with the other CONCACAF qulaifiers, despite more or less laying waste to them in qualifying. FIFA is easily the worst part of international football.

Donovan is legend in the US...should be captain, imo, over Dempsey who spends his time complaining and being dispossessed. that is, if Bradley isn't captain...it bewilders me that he is not...seems well-suited for the role.


Donovan doesn't have an equal on the squad in terms of skill set, experience, and poise. I'm not saying he's super-duper, but it's the truth. Not having him as a sub sounds even more ******** than not having him start. Last 25 mins of a tie game...who would be upset if JK put LD in the game?


JK surprised me when he didn't reward Eddie Johnson, who seemed to really take it up a level with the NT in recent performances...but leaving off Donovan is just a disappointment...


Not to mention a really bad play in terms of perception. If the US looks like Germany06 in the group stage, he will and should be second-guessed for not taking LD...the only way this can appear to be a "good idea" is if they make noise in the 2nd round. And my doubts about that happening just became greater.

I know, Eddie johnson always seems do some positive and score goals and always outperformed altidore every time I watched

Since this thread just slowed down ill say that JK had a good press conference and I understand that even if you are the best usa player if youre not in form and havent been around then you shouldnt be picked. Also you have to some time start developing your younger players and get them experience and since we got the group of death and probably in all honesty won't survive at least they are getting the experience for the next world cup

You gonna tell me that Green, Brooks, Jones,& Yedlin are better choices than Donovan? I don't care how Donovan has played in recent times. He's the biggest scoring threat we have. Dempsey is probably the next biggest threat & he's even older than Donovan. I don't get people backing Klinsmann for this decision.

Donovan will never be at another World Cup & he's been the face of US Soccer for a long time now. He can still score the ball & the biggest things missing here is HE'S OUR LEADER! You can't beat experience at the World Cup either.

How can people see this as a good thing? It's a bad decision no matter how things play out. I like youth but Donovan is a threat period even if he was a reserve player to come in for a late scoring chance. He's a lot better option than some of the guys chosen for this team.

1. Dempsey is younger than Donovan
2. Yedlin, Brooks, Jones and Green all play different positions than Donovan
