Worked for Jozy. (That was part of the Hudson rant that I thought was spot on)

IMO, the LD argument is more about who went instead of him than it is about Donovan's justification. There are players who are older, less skilled, less experienced, or in worse form going to Brazil.

I'm good with the LD decision either way, and will always support our boys. I just think that there are legit questions to be asked about the subject, and it's not just a bunch of ticked off Donovan fanboys. (although there is some of that)

If you're going to knock LD for his sabbatical (who has given everything he's had to be the face of US Soccer for a decade) then what the hell with Chandler? He refused time and time again to come in for qualifiers.

Personally, I'd give the last roster spots to guys who helped you qualify (Edu, EJ, etc) not to kids you had to bribe.

Ok here is another argument since everyone is hinting he was left off because klinsmann doesnt like him...obey your coach and dont create problems and get on his bad side...better everyone? Hes one player that won't make a difference

And jozy has played all year in the EPL which is 100x better than the mls, and he is a striker with size who can score goals

Still maintain that we should be more pissed about Boyd being left out than LD.

Or we can keep pretending Jozy's season at Sunderland was anything but disastrous. I hope Jozy proves me wrong.

And, there are others that made the team in his place that are difference makers? Are you kidding me? Of all the players on this team, Who would you want to take the winning kick? LD! I don't care how he's played in recent times. Enough said!

Really? After watching Dempsey flub the PK against Mexico?

I've never seen Bradley take a free kick so I can't comment on that one.

I'd vote Jozy as the only free kick I've seen from him was the one against Bosnia. Let's see that again!

This thread is quickly becoming mind-numbing, I've heard some conspiracy rumors between Klinsmann and Donovan and they're all just straight hilarious, mostly because the only proof you have is that an out-of-form player at one of the most plentiful positions on his National team got left at home.

RE: Altidore, one could argue Boyd, on a personal level, I think Boyd would fit better in a different formation, while I like Jozy if we stick with the 4-2-3-1

RE: Chandler, I'm fairly certain he got a spot, as well as Yedlin simply because fullback is one of our weakest positions, and at the very least Chandler has some experience.

RE: Brad Davis, Jurgen has a man crush on him, it was almost inevitable he was going to be there.

I'm so tired of hearing about his sabbatical. the fact that he was smart enough and man enough to admit that he needed a break to recharge shouldnt diminish him at all. ridiculous.

If nothing else you keep the guy for his vision and penalties.

The US does not have a good PK man now...want proof, go watch Dempsey's neanderthal-esque PK against Costa Rica from last year in WCQ...as opposed to LD's PK savviness.

(dear god, mute the audio if you watch this clip)

The assist at the 1:30 mark...not saying others can't do that...but come on...the guy was a wrecking crew at the Gold Cup and has more between the ears than anyone in the First XV, save for Bradley. His vision is why he needs to be on the pitch 3:20...yeah, Dempsey makes that pass :/

Sorry to be redundant, but I can't imagine many supporters of, or players in, the USMNT not wanting LD on the field at crunch time.

I do not like the idea of Dempsey being the "leader" of this team...watch his body language during matches when things aren't going well...then watch him attempt to dribble 2 defenders...

I'm more than a little willing to believe that JK promised a lock spot to Chandler, et al...

I think that is why the cut was made as early as it was. Plus one injury and LD can come in as the redeeming hero instead of just another injury replacement.
