re: Official USMNT/USWNT Thread
If the plan was to "play" against Argentina, then at least start your best XI
This lineup was DOA, regardless of strategy. Frustrating to be so many years into this and still feel like there is zero depth, not just in the squad but in the talent pool. I understand some of the gains JK has brought, but ultimately I don't have faith in his decision making.Last edited by fugazi; 06-22-2016, 09:32 AM.Australian Rules Football...just sayin'Comment

All but inexcusable. Really.

We have a chance to take 3rd in a tournament with a pretty high level of competition.
I'm not sure what else was expected.Originally posted by My Wife"The Celtics only won because they have a magical elf playing for their team...."Comment

Yea I'm not going to be disappointed if we finish in 3rd at this tournament. I mean think about the quality players at this tournament. You got Higuain, Messi, James, Otamendi, Di Maria, Aguero, Suarez, Cavani, Douglas Costa, Coutihno, etc. I'm not going to pissed at the results from this tournament.

re: Official USMNT/USWNT Thread
It's likely. However, Columbia wasn't head and shoulders better than the US in the group stage match. They scored early on a couple of dead balls and then sat back and absorbed the pressure. Even then, Dempsey and Wood were able to put together some pretty good chances.
Zardes has improved every match and has shown he is probably the most fit player in the starting 11. Brooks and Cameron (when they aren't playing the world's best team) have been good.
With the improvement I've see by the squad coupled with some of the silly mistakes that Colombia has made in the back, I could see us pulling off this one 2-1 with a little luck.Originally posted by My Wife"The Celtics only won because they have a magical elf playing for their team...."Comment

Perhaps.
I think, however, if the US wins it will be because Colombia simply doesn't care.Comment

Nah, we have a chance against Colombia. We had zero chance against Argentina. Whatever happens, I just want to see some competent play and some confidence.Comment

re: Official USMNT/USWNT Thread
Yea I said this in this thread or the Copa thread. Even if everyone was available to us we would've lost by 3 instead of 4. I would've been thrilled if we only lost by 1 or 2. We just don't have the talent that the rest of these big countries have.

re: Official USMNT/USWNT Thread
Sure, the US has a chance against Colombia. No question, particularly in comparison to their chances against Argentina.
It doesn't change the fact that they are the underdog and (imo) that if they win it will most likely be because Colombia doesn't show up. We already saw what happens when they do show up.Comment
