Re: ***The Official Chelsea FC Thread***

England U21 team is basically the Chelsea U21 Show lately.

England just won the Toulon tournament with Baker getting the golden boot and RLC player of the tournament. Chalobah came in third for player of the tournament as well.

If we don't end up using a single player from this batch of youth we've produced then we deserve every single piece of criticism we've ever gotten.

I wish Belgium was there so we could have seen Musonda dominate vs kids his age.

I really thought Chaloboah was going to be special. He was pretty good in his ready Championship loans before taking a 6 month vacay in Naples.

Chalobah's problem was that he went out on loan a million times.

I feel like we should alter our loan policy for our better youth prospects. Why would a club play a loan player over one of their own prospects? We should try doing what Barca does and just sell them with a lower buy-back clause.

I mean, we should also just try integrating some of them into the first team as well.

Something like that may work alright. Next season I want to see RLC play more regularly, Musonda instead of Oscar, Solanke as backup instead of Remy/Falcao/Pato with Abraham and Traore there as well. Two of Clarke-Salter/Miazga/Kalas/Christensen getting a chance at CB with the other two going on loan.

I realise that's a lot of inexperience but if even half of them get a chance next season I'll be happy, considering where we are at right now.

Christensen is on a 2 year loan. I believe Musonda is on an 18 month loan as well.

I'd say Kalas and Miazga are closer to the first team than Clarke-Salter, but I agree it would be nice to see what they could do with some reasonable minutes.

RLC hopefully will see regular minutes and hopefully Conte can sort out his stamina/work rate issues.

Striker is an interesting one. It sounds like all three of Remy/Falcao/Pato could be gone. I've personally been of the belief that Traore is good enough to be our second striker, but I am not sure what we should do with Solanke. He's a lot younger than our other youth attackers, so I don't think it would be the end of the world to have him wait it out a bit.

Honestly I think we should stop sending players to Vitesse. They suck balls and our players aren't benefiting in any way. Solanke was doing great at Vitesse actually, but the team just sucks and there is only so much a striker can do.

Kalas played pretty well at Anfield as I recall and that was two years ago now. I haven't seen him play since but I'd have to believe he could fit as a 3rd or 4th CB option next year.

I just don't think we'll see it. Cahill, Zouma, Terry and a transfer is probably what we'll end up with next season.

I'm with you guys though. It's frustrating to see the glut of riches in the academy that never see the pitch at Stamford Bridge. Unless, of course, Chelsea buy them, sell them and then buy them again at a premium (ala Matic and maybe Lukaku).

Sadly I agree, I think we will end up spending big on a CB

Re: ***The Official Chelsea FC Thread***

We need a CB though, especially if Conte prefers CBs with passing range. Only JT has the ability to play out the back and if we have aspirations of getting back into the Top 4 then we need get to younger and better there.

Cahill, Terry, and Bran are all on the wrong side of 30 and with Zouma coming off an ACL we need to pull the trigger on either Kouliaby or Benatia. We'll get a much better deal on them then we would on Stones.

As for striker, I'd like to see Traore be either the 2nd/3rd choice depending on whether or not Conte rolls with 2 up front. I think our youngsters (Abraham, Solanke, Bamford, Baker, Piazon, etc...) all go out on Championship loans with the exception of Bamford. He's versatile enough to be a fringe player for us but whether or not he wants to is a different question. I'd like to pair Costa with someone pacy (maybe Pato stays) but the reality is we need a strong #2 to push Costa and for his inevitable muscle issues/suspensions.

                  Gonna be an interesting summer.

Anyone going to any of their preseason friendlies in the US? I was thinking about going to the game in Chicago vs Real but that's going to be both B teams most likely unless Conte wants the extra time to work on his system.

We'll pay alot for him but if he gives us 10/11 years it'll be worth it. He's proven he can score and at only 22/23 he has loads of years ahead of him.

All of a sudden we are randomly linked with Morata? I'm assuming it's just because he's a Juve player and Conte. Also looks like we are in for Koulibaly, which would be a good purchase but makes me wonder what we are going to do with all these young CBS we have collected.

Curious what our striker situation will be. Remy/Falcao and Pato all look to be leaving, with Costa possibly leaving as well. If Conte goes through with playing a 442 then we are either putting a bunch of faith into youth strikers (unlikely) or we are buying 84 strikers this summer.

Def going to be a weird summer with rumors linking us with anyone and everyone, especially Italian players and/or those who played in Serie A.

If we roll with 2 up-top I'd like Morata. Has decent size, a proven scorer, and the pace to stretch back-lines.

I really hope Conte has taken some time to watch our players playing this summer. Copa, Euros, ACN qualifiers, friendlies, etc...

It seems like there's a Chelsea player in nearly every match on TV these days.

3 at the back probably wouldn't work in the prem, but it also would be a terrible system for us specifically because it gets the best out of almost none of our good players.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure that rumor was pulled directly from some journo's butt, because as far as I know Conte has hardly given any indication of what system he will use at Chelsea beyond hinting that he might like to use 2 strikers.

His Italy formation is the result of being at a major international tournament where you adapt to get the best results over a short series of games.
