I mean, I love Bane. He's done a lot for the club, and I think we should keep people like him around for veteran-presence type purposes. He's also still a perfectly serviceable CB.

Continuing to play him as a fullback though is just insane. Literally every team we play against targets him for the entirety of the game, wingers will even swap sides specifically so they can run at him. I have a lot of faith in Conte, but it is definitely slightly worrisome that we only have 3 fullbacks and they are all RBs, and one of them is Bane.

Is Dasilva left-footed? Maybe Conte wants to try him out? He didn't play at all in preseason though I don't think.

Can we just buy Ryan Bertrand back?

Don't get me wrong, I like him too but like you said he's finished as a fullback. I'm with you on keeping hum around as a leader and CB depth. I just wish we'd bring in someone like Rodriguez or even have kept Bertrand!

WHAT!!!!!! I thought he would definitely get more minutes this season. I see it is to Ajax to replace Milik so hopefully he will play week in week out and come back next season as real contender for being our main striker.

Perhaps Conte has another striker in his sights?

Did someone over at Cobham get into Brahvo's crazy pills?

The only silver lining is that he'll play regularly at Ajax. There's too much money involved in the PL now to risk playing a kid on loan at such a high profile position as ST.

The thing is, and I've said this a lot before. Loaning out young players multiple times runs the risk of them getting frustrated and disillusioned.

It's great that he will likely be getting champs league experience, but I feel like he's one of those players we should be pushing the envelope with, send him somewhere like Serie A where it's hard for strikers, or the BL which is very similar in pace and physicality to the prem. He's already played well in the Eredivise, and Ajax is leaps and bounds ahead of everyone other than PSV.

I know The Dutch league is known for player development, but their track record with producing high quality strikers is noticeably poor compared to the rest. When was the last time they produced a really great and/or high-ceiling striker?

Anyway, this now leaves us with Costa/Batshuyai/Remy as striking options. Looks great on paper but Remy hasn't looked like he gives a **** in over a year, and Costa has become injury prone.

Guess we will have to see what happens when the window closes

The defending in that league is borderline pathetic at times and makes strikers look better than they are - no question. To answer your question, I guess it would be Suarez? Does he count? I think he went to Ajax at age 20.

I do think he's above the Dutch League in terms of a challenge but he needs minutes more than anything and if Ajax is going to give him that than I'm OK with it.

I think we all thought he'd be #3 based on his preseason but it appears Conte thought otherwise.

Philosophy-wise he could do a lot worse than Ajax but for selfish reasons I'd have liked to see him in a league that I can see on TV regularly.

I think he would get just as frustrated sitting on the bench or even worse, in the stands as Diego and Michy play, especially if RLC does indeed play in that SS role.

Wow. Pretty shocked at the Traore loan. I rate him higher than Remy. Disappointed in the decision.

I thought of Suarez but I'm not sure you u could count him simply because he's a freak of nature. His incredible talent and even more incredible drive would have seen him succeed in any league, at least I my opinion. Obviously both Ajax and Liverpool contributed to him becoming the player he is now, but similar to Cristiano, I just think he's one of those players that is too driven to fail.

Honestly I think Liverpool did more for him than Ajax. He scored 17 in his first season for Ajax, ended with something crazy like 110ish goals and like 40 assists in 160ish games. Don't think he even played centrally for them either. Those kind of numbers suggest he was a stud when he got there.

Milik is a top striker now? Most Ajax fans seem to think Napoli overpaid for him and he only really had 1 season at Ajax where he looked great.

Anyway, Traore signed a 3 year extension today right before his loan to Ajax, which is a huge relief. Also, Ajax's coach was the same one Traore played under at Vitesse and he loves him. Additionally, Traore doesn't have any competition for a starter spot, so he will be a guaranteed starter all year for them, hopefully they make it through CL qualification too.

Yeah that's why I wasn't totally mad that he was going to Ajax. They have a lot of things going for him and without European games this year he would have been a spectator more often than not.

I'm glad we get West Ham first. A slow ST and hopefully an out of shape Payet.
