Re: ***The Official Chelsea FC Thread***

Before you blame us for covering Chelsea news from the Instagram account of a Brazilian pundit, we better explain it first. Mauro Cezar Pereira is a reliable journalist who works for ESPN Brasil. But since he’s currently on vacation, he obviously isn’t showing up live on TV, neither is writing for his blog. That’s why

    Well ****.

Apparently the Brazilian journalist reporting this is super reliable. Info could possibly be wrong, but the Brazilians I’m seeing online commenting on this seem to think this guy wouldn’t be reporting on this if his info wasn’t solid.

Onward we go again I guess.

Seeing Giroud on the bench is still heartbreaking.

Even though I thought his 2nd yellow was weak he had one of the worst 30 mins you'll ever see. He had not 1 but 2 back-passes that nearly resulted in Watford chances.

Down to 10 men was bad but Conte deserves just as much blame as anyone. Playing 3 in the back with 2 midfielders down a man literally invites the high press into your half and with Eden up top alone you have no outlet unless you have time to pick a pass, which we didn't. I can sort of understand sacrificing Willian as Pedro is the better defensive player but Pedro's been horribly out of form for a while. Giroud was the obvious answer and once he came he won headers and did what he generally does the best, hold the ball-up and bring others into play. The goal was a moment of individual brilliance by Hazard but it was only possible because Giroud held the CBs allowing for the space.

The Janmaat goal was just incredibly poor. Cahill should have never gave him space to take that touch but that's kind of his MO at times. Watch Luiz on that play, he's literally watching and has the audacity to throw his hands up at the end. He was, and has been a huge liability since returning from his exile/injury layoff. Even Dave looks a step slow this year. IDK, maybe it's all the games taking a toll on him.

I'd like to see Conte ride this out this year but I think it's best that the club and Conte move on. He was so subdued today, far from the energetic manager we fell in love with last year.

                  Oh, celery.

Honestly I don't even really blame Cahill on that Janmaat goal, looked like he was trying not to concede a penalty and his initial hesitation is because he was trying to anticipate another defender covering Janmaat. He just ran in there and nobody followed him, so eventually Cahill has to leave his man to go cover Janmaat.

Luiz has been really bad all season, it's hard to watch because I do love me some David Luiz. Cahill has looked at his worst when he's either paired next to Luiz, or playing in the middle of the back 3.

In that LCB role Cahill has been pretty reliable. Maybe he shouldn't be a starter for us anymore but that's not really his fault.

The front 3 of Pedro-Hazard-Willian has never been good for us, we always play pretty crap when Hazard is up top alone. Not even sure why Giroud didn't start, he looks like he's match fit and would have been better than starting an out-of-form Pedro or even Willian who literally just returned from injury.

Would have loved to see a front 3 of Hazard-Giroud-Hudson tbh, these are the types of games most clubs would take a slight chance to blood in a youngster, especially considering he was probably the best option for us in that RW spot for this particular game.

I mean we didn't even use a 3rd sub. Surely down 3-1 there's not much harm in bringing on Hudson for Zapacosta just to see what happens?

He could have and should have but he looked absolutely defeated and given up. As a player it's hard to believe and battle when your coach seems to be drained.

I see he gave them 3 days off today... saying the performances are due to rough scheduling.

I hope the board stick with him longer and give him the chance to right the ship but he has to want to do that. He also needs to stop talking to the media. Right now he's trying to hard to be Mourinho with the mind and head games and it isn't working, and if anything backfiring.

Looking at the schedule again, I still can't believe we play Barca, United and City all in 2 weeks time.

Make or break point right there.

Sounds more like "so long Conte" time to me but I guess we'll see.

Just saw that, are we Arsenal now?

We’ve had one of the best medical departments in football for years and all of a sudden we can’t keep our starters healthy.
