Re: ***The Official Chelsea FC Thread***
Are we really not going to let Mount and Tomori play against us in the league cup?
This should have been the conversation:
Frank: “Hel—“
Chelsea: “Yes”
Frank: “You didn’t even hear my question”
Chelsea: “It’s a yes”
Frank: “Uhh, ok then I gues—“
Chelsea: “Yes”
Frank: “I wasn’t going to ask a second question actually”
Chelsea: “that one’s there just in case”Comment

Very conflicted about the Liverpool result. On one hand I'm pissed that we surrendered a late goal that prevented us all three points but on the other hand we were probably lucky to only concede one. That Eden 1v1 breakaway he missed which would have put us up 2-0 would have sealed it, especially considering Klopp had an eye towards their midweek CL game.
I keep going back to this in my head but we really should have splashed the cash for Higuain as a 1-2 year rental. Giroud and Morata are simply not good enough. We should expect at least 20 goals a year in the league from our main ST and neither one is capable of that. Without a real goal threat in the midfield (Ross just has too many errors in his game) the burden is once again gonna fall on Eden with Pedro and Willian picking up the pieces. Eden should get us 20-30, Pedro 10-15, and Willian ~15 but in order to really challenge (which I believe we can if we prioritize the league) we need a better #9.
Anyway, really hoping we get to see CHOI on Thursday. Pedro might still be banged up, Willian needs a rest so that should leave him and Moses as our starting wingers.Comment

Re: ***The Official Chelsea FC Thread***
I thought we were doing a perfectly fine job closing the game out, definitely felt like a loss just because of how late in the game Sturridge’s goal was.
I agree on Higuain, but I was always in favor of that move. It really needed to be either him or Michy. Even with the power of hindsight, Sarri’s system needs a high quality finisher as the spearhead, we really should have seen this coming. Michy’s shortcomings don’t really matter, because we are constantly creating chances and really just need somebody who will kick the ball into the net.
Best case scenario is that Michy has a good loan at Valencia and we give him a chance next season, or we throw out big money for someone like Icardi.
Alternatively, we could just give Hudson game time and watch him turn into an absolute beast.Comment

Re: ***The Official Chelsea FC Thread***
It was a weird one because both sets of supporters will think they should have won but are pretty OK with the point. 2 cleared off the line and the Shaqiri miss - which I actually thought was a harder finish than the sitter the announcer made it out to be. He was running full speed, that ball was travelling and bounced at an awkward point for it to be a tap-in.Comment

Re: ***The Official Chelsea FC Thread***
Barkley has been largely quite good under Sarri.
If he can keep putting up numbers then we have a genuine alternative to Kovacic, who has never been a big assister or goal scorer(which are two of Barkley’s strengths).Comment

Re: ***The Official Chelsea FC Thread***
He’s getting better but he still needs to be a bit more decisive. I do like him in that late attacking push role.
Also, your boy RLC looked pretty good in the Europa league game. I know he was short in fitness but he definitely should have won a penalty.

Re: ***The Official Chelsea FC Thread***
Yeah I was pleasantly surprised with RLC tbh, he hasn't looked anything special recently and was good but not amazing for Palace, but his last two games for Chelsea he looked very good.
I really can't stress enough how much we need to not screw up with CHO, but I'm certain we will. At the youth level he was considered equals with Jadon Sancho. Sounds pretty familiar though tbh, RLC was considered just as good/better than Dele at the youth level. Difference is game time.Comment
