Re: ***The Official Chelsea FC Thread***

Idk if Ruben is the best option but I do not care because I am incredibly biased. Big fan of how much he's been playing lately, and personally I think he's looked good.

Lot of people making a big deal of the loss but honestly that's the first game all season where you could actually see some kind of plan in what Potter might be trying to do. We absolutely dominated Dortmund in their own stadium and some kid randomly scores a crazy solo goal. Our finishing is terrible but you can't really blame Potter for that, especially since we have plenty of attackers getting into good positions.

If we keep building on that performance I think a lot of people are gonna end up looking silly for how much crap they are giving Potter atm.

Also I'm saying this as someone who is very indifferent on Potter in general, but people calling for his head halfway through his first season when he had zero preseason and the new owners are just buying players at will, not to mention we've had the worst injury record alongside Liverpool.

I mean I don't even get it lmao, look how much crap people gave Arteta and he's currently challenging for league. Honestly some of our fanbase has gotten way too entitled and has zero concept of what rebuilding is or long term anything.

Yeah, SOME people gave him quite a bit of crap…

As for entitled Chelsea supporters, it’s the least surprising aspect of Potter’s time in charge. I’d say large amounts of Chelsea supporters entire identity was laughing at clubs who didn’t sack their manager after they failed to win again, rinse and repeat.

You’re asking spoiled supporters to know what it’s like to not be spoiled—it’s going to take a few years. But in reality, it won’t change because they’re still being conditioned that the club will buy any player they want, when they want.

(Arsenal obviously has hordes of morons, also, as do all clubs—they’re just not all stupid in the same way.)

I mean I’ll admit to being hard on Arteta lol.

If we’re all being honest, this could very well be a fluke. Most people didn’t think much of him and then randomly he’s challenging for a league title.

I think next season will be the real show of his strength as a manager.

Anyway yeah obviously some of our fans are too entitled and that isn’t likely to change.

I thought Ruben was pretty MIA yesterday but he was our only fit MF outside of Enzo and Gallagher and the double pivot doesn't really suit RLC. It's time for us to move on from him. Unfortunately injuries are just too common with him, no matter how unlucky he is. If Potter is going to proceed with 4-2-3-1 then he's going to have to pair Ruben with someone like Zakaria or Rice who can just mop up and cover ground. Hopefully it is Rice because even though I like Zakaria's profile he's also injury prone.

I thought we were good too vs Dortmund, just extremely unlucky with the shots off the woodwork and some of the tame efforts by Joao. Joao is a straight baller though. You can tell by how folks like Rice & Bellingham talked about him after the matches they played.

I thought Arsenal would have been well within reason to sack Arteta after last season but they stuck with him and it's paid off. I'm not saying Potter will follow the same path but he deserves more time. Expecting someone to get results out a side that suffered the amount of injuries we have + the addition of so many new pieces is going to take time. Any fan that thinks we should make the change now has too much of the previous regime still in them. Yeah it got us trophies but it hurt us in the league where we should have sustained dominance to only be rivaled by City.

I'm perfectly fine with a Europa League spot this year. It's a shame though because a few of those draws that should have been wins would have put us in the hunt for 4th. You have to expect Spurs to drop off with the Conte mess + injuries, Newcastle are fading a little and the rest (Brighton, Fulham, etc...) are going to drop points here & there along the way.

            100% agree there.

Tbh I really like Zakaria a lot, was he injury prone before joining Chelsea?

Just saw the Azpilicueta incident. Blimey, that looked and sounded horrendous. Hope he is alright.

Yeah...He hurt his knee bad in 19/20 and then he's picked up niggling injuries since then.

I do like his profile too though.

Ahh well damn I didn't realize he was injury prone, definitely the last thing we need right now.

Also really hope we aren't gonna let Mason go just cause of one bad season where the whole team is also bad.

Yeah I don’t want to give up on him either but he’s not really helping himself. It’s just rough for him. He can’t play out wide in this 4-2-3-1 and there’s no way you can play him in the double pivot or the 10 ahead of Felix.

Ultimately I think he’ll sign on though.

Honestly we are getting memed on for that game by people who didn’t even watch.

With 10 men we forced 3 yellow cards, one of which should have been a red, and only didn’t score because Mason is rusty as hell.

Legitimately if Lampard starts Challobah and Mudryk or Pulisic instead of Félix and Cucarella that’s a completely different game.
