One great perk of moving to a big Irish neighborhood is all the pubs/bars in the area always have some sort of match playing.

Heck, the one place is the bar for our local American Outlaws chapter.

Wasn't sure where else to put this—any chance anyone is interested in an OS Soccer book club of sorts?

We could vote on a book, could be every other month, not every month, and then could have discussions on the book, or even on certain chapters.

I've been wanting to read more football/soccer books, and having others to discuss them with when finished or reading would be pretty great.

      Anyone interested?

I read soccernomics, and do data analysis from it like once a month.

            This is amazing!

            Football's Greatest Fraud

The story goes that Carlos asked for a few weeks fitness training before playing his first match. He told the club that he was a natural striker due to his speed and so the coaches gave him some time.

When the time came for a match Carlos asked for the first ball played to him to be played a number of yards ahead of him. He chased it and fell to the ground clutching his hamstring, insisting he had torn it. Medical technology being what it was in the 1980s there was no way of disproving the claim and so Carlos went to the treatment table.

Cheick Tiote has died from a heart attack during a training session. The man behind the 4-4 draw. Formed a good midfield with Cabaye

In Russia, Terek Grozny was re-named Akhmat FC after Akhmat Kadyrov, the first president of Chechnya. They finished 5th in Russia this year, but won't compete in Europe because Lokomotiv Moscow stole their spot by winning the cup.

Not really the beautiful part of the game, but Modric got a case of amnesia in court

Just have to say, the 2017/2018 home kits for both Barca and Real Madrid look amazing. The Barca one in particular reminds me of their 2013 out, which is probably my all-time favorite of theirs.

Even though they were gifted a goal it's still pretty amazing considering the run of form that Chile side is on.

The competition to make next year's WC squad is gonna be tough.

Kimmich, Werner, Rudy, Rudiger, Ter Stegen, Can, Goertzka, and Hector should all go.

The goal was a gift and Chile definitely dominated most of that game, but Germany had so many counter attacks that nearly ended in a goal.

Chile was lucky not to concede more, and also should have had 2 players sent off.

Man, Jara is probably my least favorite player. I don't even understand how he is still allowed to play international football with all the absolute nonsense he's committed.

The fact that the ref missed that elbow in the first place when he was looking right at it was bad enough. Then the fact he went and looked at that replay and only gave a yellow doubled down on the buffoonery. I mean, why even have VAR?
