Re: The Beautiful Game Thread
They're a member of CONCACAF though which makes this tricky because it's a CONCACAF tournament following FIFA rules. Anyways, they knew it was an issue because they were told before the tournament.
Ether way he's not worth it.

The nation's team and it's leaders seem to disagree with you.Support Local Sports

Re: The Beautiful Game Thread
From what I've read, he's basically a national hero to them, having him turn out for the Gold Cup is a big deal for them. It's not like they were setting the pace this year to pull up trees. Having a national hero play for the team is super cool for a fanbase though.Support Local Sports

Look, I won't even begin to speak on something I know nothing about (Malouda's significance to the country) but for me personally, I'd be pissed if I was another player on that team.Comment

I can't imagine that they would do this, knowing full well what the consequence COULD be, without the support and backing of the other players.Support Local Sports

Re: The Beautiful Game Thread
Two weeks ago there was the Caribbean Cup, which is how they qualified (Curaçao actually beat Jamaica in the final.). Malouda played for them in that tournament and helped them get to this point. Up until this Gold Cup, you could play for one of those non-FIFA teams if you had ties to the nation/territory and hadn't played for FIFA nation within the past 5 years. He was named in the original team for the first match, but they balked and replaced him. I just think they didn't care and wanted him to play since they probably thought they'd finish 4th anyway. Especially with Canada getting a result right before they took the field and having to face Coata Rica still.Comment

Not sure if this has been posted here before, but for those who missed Wayne Rooney on twitter before his posting privileges were revoked:

It was good, but I thought it could've been a bit longer. Felt like they sort of glossed over the later years. His spousal abuse and the controversy surrounding his liver transplant were quite big stories.Comment
