I can't really answer that for the first half. I didn't turn the game on until something like the 56th or 57th minute. I wasn't aware it was even on TV until I was flipping through the listings.

But from what I had seen, the game was super chippy. And he was letting way too much go. Lots of hard tackles, and body checks. So I would even venture to say its possibly his fault for letting so much go leading up to it. Players were getting very frustrated with him and were being very aggressive with each other. The announcers were even commenting on how poor of a job he was doing. And after that tackle it was even worse. And of course LA scores to level it after that, when they should have been down to 10 men.

Yep, figured. That's what happens when a ref doesn't get control of a match.

No. It's De Jong's fault. He made that choice, and did so consciously.

21 other players might have been chippy or physical, blame that on the ref, perhaps...but De Jong doesn't need an excuse.

I wasn't trying to absolve de Jong of anything. Just talking in general. We are in agreement that de Jong is a garbage player.

This is strange: The MLS table claims Toronto has allowed only five goals in six games.

              That doesn't sound right.

The ref in the Orlando-NE match turned the end into a complete disaster. But in the end the botches cancelled each other out and the correct result was had.

lol that was madness...I've never seen a ref call for a free kick and then just move it to the penalty spot seemingly for the hell of it.

                    Re: MLS Discussion Thread

Happened to be watching that crazy Columbus/Montreal match this weekend. At one point, Kei Kamara was on a hat trick and wanted to take a penalty that was awarded. The problem with this is that Federico Higuain is the appointed penalty taker and took a stand. Then after the match (where they drew after being up 4-1), Kamara had some words about Higuain and the team in general.

Well, after all that, they traded Kamara to New England for money and draft picks today. Bold move.

I don't really understand why New England traded for another forward. They have so much attacking talent on the team:
                      • Fagundez
                      • Rowe
                      • Bunbury
                      • Agudelo
                      • Nguyen
                      • Kamara
                      • Davies

Great pick up for New England if they can keep him under control. He didn't just throw Higuain under the bus; he backed it up and ran over him.

I had no idea you could trade international roster spots (part of that deal). Sometimes I think the MLS just adjust their rules on the fly.

I've known about the int'l spot thing since I started playing football manager. I believe each team starts with 7, and then can be traded for a few years, or even permanently (that's not very likely).

Not that TFC had any choice but the Defoe-Altidore swap is looking very one sided. Altidore has Brandon Morrow disease -- he can't stay on the field for any reasonable length of time.
