    Re: MLS Discussion Thread

Sometimes you forget how important these things are for the players because athletes can come off as robotic. But last night wasn't one of those nights. You could see Whitecaps players crying on the field and David Omstead throwing something after the goal in frustration. You could see the joy in TFC locker room after the game spraying champaign everywhere and drinking out of the cup.

I thought it was surprisingly emotional when you consider it's really only a four-game tourney.

It looked Carl Robinson was going to punch Vanney after the game. I'm not sure why he was so angry.

Bumping this because I'm watching NYCFC vs Red Bulls. I'm actually getting into it and I'm finding myself rooting for NYCFC haha. I got excited when they scored.

I'm still amped up over that game. I usually never feel like this after watching ANY sport.

Not sure I've seen a team play worse than the Chicago Fire in the first half against TFC.

Naturally, we could only muster one goal.

The Sounders have been pretty disappointing this season (despite the recent 5-0 win), but I'm excited for Uruguay's Nicolas Lodeiro to arrive and be a creative midfielder. We've never really had a creative attacker in the midfield. Montero, Dempsey, and Martins were forwards and other creative players were either on the wing or more deep lying.

International player from Boca Juniors to MLS in his prime. That's a pretty nice signing for the league if it goes through.

TFC picks up another nice win. Really putting together great defensive season. Only 23 goals allowed so far, while 5 other east teams have 30+ goals against, and all but 1 have played just as many games as TFC. Both teams ahead of them in the standings have allowed 30-40 goals, despite playing just 2 more games.

And survived a month without their #1 goalie too. I think it's about 2 more weeks until he's back, but they're obviously doing fine without him. In July, they've allowed more than a goal just 1 time, and have had 2 shutouts.

Another win tonight by TFC and a team record for clean sheets in a season (nine). They're really rolling since that disaster against nine-man San Jose.

I'm not going to get too excited until they can show they can play like this on the road.

They've moved into sole possession of 2nd place! Their road record sucks, but to be fair, the entire east minus NYCFC sucks badly on the road.

10 combined wins on the road between TFC,Red Bulls,Philly,Montreal,New England,Orlando,DC,Columbus,Chicago! TFC is actually leading the way between those 9 teams with 3 wins. 7/10 teams in the East with 0-1 wins on the road. Everyone has played at least 10 road games too.

Still crazy to see though. 23GA in 22 games played!

Giovinco on pace to be first player in MLS history to win back to back MVPs. Only Preki has even won that award twice.

FC dallas just keeps winning, but the West is no joke as usual. It's shaping up to be a great finish to the season. I'm interested to see if Philadelphia Union can take advantage of the recent moves and finish with a playoff run. I'm not a huge fan by any means, but I'd like to see them near the top for once.

Giovinco continuing to dominate. Hat trick tonight. Now has 15 goals to go along with his 10 assists. Only 1 player in the entire MLS has more Goals + Assists than Giovinco has goals.

He leads the league in both goals and assists.

TFC now just 1 point behind 1st,with 1 game in hand.

Lodeiro was pretty damn impressive tonight. Dempsey got the hat trick, but Lodeiro was everywhere and seemingly involved in about everything. Valdez missed a couple easy ones, or Morris would've had 4 assists. I think the Sounders are gonna be a force down the stretch. Very impressive tonight against a team who has been great at home.
