I just checked and every match that isn't on FS1 is on Time Warner Cable Sports. I didn't know Time Warner had their own network. If it is anything like the quality of their cable business, then it's terrible. Calling Time Warner Cable support is one of the worst things I have ever had to do.

If you think MLB was bad with the Royals getting so many people in the All Star game. Well MLS has Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard in the All Star game and they haven't played a MLS game.MLB: Texas Rangers
Soccer: FC Dallas, Fleetwood Town
NCAA: SMU, UTA
NFL: Dallas Cowboys
NHL: Dallas Stars

Re: MLS Discussion Thread
I don't see any problem with it.
The MLS All Star game is actually an exhibition. The league is trying to get its name out there, and those two names are recognizable to people who might not watch the game otherwise.
There are plenty of other spots available. The fans voted in the first 10, one was determined by which player people scored the most goals with on FIFA 15 (Obafemi Martins), the commissioner picked the two new guys, and now the manager will be picking the rest of the players.
You could make the case that it should just go back to East vs. West (I wouldn't mind it). But for what the All Star game is meant to be right now, it makes perfect sense for Garber to include those two guys.
The real travesty here is the fact that the fans didn't vote Sebastian Giovinco in. I mean, come on.Last edited by ImTellinTim; 07-14-2015, 12:01 PM.Comment

Re: MLS Discussion Thread
Yeah, it's questionable, but keep in mind this really is an exhibition/friendly in its truest form. More so than any other sport. Hell, the MLS beat Bayern Munich last year, so that should tell you how I unserious the competition is. This isn't a serious game for Tottenham.Last edited by dubcity; 07-14-2015, 02:21 PM.Comment

Re: MLS Discussion Thread
But if Bayern would have beat the MLS soundly it's "LOL, what a joke league". The narrative changes depending on what happens in the match. It's kind of funny. Obviously, it's not like Spurs are going to act like it's a Cup final. But it is part of their preseason prep. Everyone who gets put out there will be taking it seriously. That's what they're paid to do.
IIRC, Bayern brought on all their stars to try to win the match in the 2nd half. Then Pep got super pissy at the end over the loss and an MLS player daring to make a tackle.Last edited by ImTellinTim; 07-14-2015, 02:34 PM.Comment

Eh, personally I don't think the result says anything about the league as a whole. If they lose it can be chalked up to the fact that it's a hodgepodge team playing together for the first time.
But don't act like people aren't as disingenuous on the other side. If the MLS wins, it's: "oh damn, see, we're totally a legit league now!" If they lose: eh, just an exhibition.Last edited by dubcity; 07-14-2015, 02:40 PM.Comment

Re: MLS Discussion Thread
Do they not show every Galaxy game in LA?
Where I am, every Revolution game is not only televised, but broadcast on the radio. Sure, you won't get every game of every team nationally, but you never do in any sport. And there are options available, like buying the MLS Extra Time package. I agree that it would be nice to get more nationally televised games, but I don't think it is currently that difficult to immerse oneself in the league. I mean, take the NBA. It has more nationally televised games, but it feels like every game has one of 6 elite teams. And at times it seems like every game on ESPN or TNT has Lebron James.
Now, I am not trying to say that the MLS gets near the same coverage as MLB, NFL, etc. That would be foolish of me to say. But with the internet, podcasts, the MLS Package, etc., combined with the national coverage the league does get, I think it is quite possible to immerse onself in the MLS.
Regarding Gio.....I'm stoked for this. I have faith in Bruce and his ability to keep a team together. He's been in contact with Gio over the last few years and so has Keane. I think he'll be fine. On paper our club is looking awesome. Time to get some chemistry going and get that 6th cup.Comment

I read that Drogba might be coming to the Chicago Fire. Not sure how true that is.
Also Wayne Rooney said he would consider coming to MLS after he's done with Man U but that's still at least 4 years away.MLB: Texas Rangers
