    Mix and Jozy are back.

Looks like Giovinco will head to Toronto this summer as well. Factor in Gilardo likley going to Montreal.

The talent only gets better every year in the league. Should be a fun season.

Giovinco is a nice signing, but TFC's backline is still shocking.

I'm reading conflicting things on Giovinco. He's coming, but there seems to be some confusion as to whether he'd be coming now or in July. The default option seems to be July, but I've seen a few Canadian writers saying there's still the possibility of a transfer fee and arrival in this window.

Giardino seems to be moving back to Italy -- Parma or Cagliari -- and not to Montreal. Who Montreal adds at forward is an open guess at this point. McInerney and a bunch of unproven Homegrowns are the only other ones on the roster, so that has to be a priority.

True, but the rumored pursuit of Damien Perquis could help that a lot. I'd be curious, too, if their left back situation couldn't help solve the CB questions, either directly or indirectly.

Justin Morrow had a fair deal of success as a CB w/ San Jose, so he could be moved over, even if only as depth. Alternatively, keep Morrow at LB and see if you could get something back in a trade for Ashtone Morgan. Morgan's stock fell precipitously over the past ~2 years, but if he could regain confidence, I think he has the potential to be a solid starter in the league. He certainly was on course for that when he first broke into TFC's lineup.

They also have Hagglund. Young and still prone to miscues, yes, but I think he has good potential.

A player like Perquis is sorely needed.

As for your other points about the back, they are valid, and some are likely to be reality, but to me, it's just more of the TFC blundering in that part of the lineup.

It seems idiotic to bring in Altidore, and Gio, with Bradley, while the central defender position is currently staffed by a too old and wounded Caldwell, and a bunch of question marks.

I don't want to see him go, but if Gilberto means a DP to play in the back, I reluctantly accept.

            Re: MLS Discussion Thread

With negotiations over new collective bargaining agreement seemingly at an impasse, MLS owners and the MLS Players Union have employed the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service to help reach an agreement.

Hopefully this gets the process going on the CBA talks with only about a month to go before the season starts. Losing matches to a strike would be a very bad move for everyone involved.

It would be bad for the league with the two new teams coming into the league, and then kill the hype with a strike.

Unfortunately yes. Players want more money and true free agency.

I'm really excited to go to the Simple Invitational next week. I got tickets for all three matches Portland plays (Vancouver, Chicago, and FC Stæbek). I'm hoping that the TA will be in midseason form, and I'm excited to see some of the new faces for the Timbers.

Excited to finally have some soccer in Florida, wish I could make it to the first game. Being a Sounders fan for a while was great, but I'm glad i can root for a team in FL now. Should be a great season for the MLS as a whole.

Ugh, Ben Zemanski got stretchered off at Providence, and Porter just confirmed he tore his ACL. He was the injury replacement for Captain Will Johnson who broke his leg against Toronto.

                                Ugh. Terrible.
