    Re: MLS Discussion Thread

Eh, I thought Seattle played pretty well in the 2nd half last night, but didn't have anything in the final third. LA's chances came on the counter when Seattle was pressing. After a kind of sloppy beginning, that was a really good match IMO. You're right, the better team overall went through.

I think NE is going to beat LA in the Final.

All depends on which LA team shows up.

When they are clicking at their highest level there isn't an MLS team that can match them.

Seattle looked pretty bad throughout the playoffs. In both games against us they looked clearly better for a combined total of around 20-30 minutes.

We got through with Donovan and Keane both having bad games. If they're clicking and they usually are at home, I don't think NE's shaky defense can handle us. Keep in mind that Zardes is overdue for a good game and we should have DeLaGarza back. It's gonna be a good one.

NE is hitting on all cylinders since adding Jones - pretty clearly the best midseason addition in MLS history. I agree that it's going to be a great match. Can't wait to watch it. I just think NE has the mojo going to edge it out. Maybe even in pens.

I'm tired of LA. I think I'd rather NE win, but I won't be mad if Donovan goes out on top either.

Watching the mls final and all I gotta say is its so hard to watch. I guess im not surprised how sluggish its been. Though it's funny how the announcers sound like they are surprised. I agree with klinsmann, best players for the us go play over seas until the mls can get its act together.

Thats dumb logic. US players should play where they can get consistent, competitive first team play. If that's in Europe, fine. But it makes zero sense for players to go sit on the bench or play in lower European leagues over there.

US players should play against better competition which will always makes you better. Im not saying they have to go to any of the major european leagues but even some of the 2nd tier leagues are better than the mls

Exactly. What's the point in saying you "play overseas" if you're riding the bench. Recent performances also show that the USMNT plays better when it has more MLS players vs their Europe based squad. Coincidence? Who knows....

Anyways, very tough match. So happy for another championship and there's no question who the best team in MLS history is now.

Soares with the d**k move on Penedo at the end. Loser

Those 2nd tier leagues are not better than MLS.

                            Agreed.

It's appalling to me how the Revolution can never pull this one game out.

One of the main issues is that the stage is so small in terms of importance and cachet. I hate to even guess what the ratings were for the final. Next year may help, although it's looking like ManCity/NYCFC are realizing Lampard may be too good for the MLS ...

This is the Revs though. This is how they are set up to play, players with lots of pace and physical strength, foul the crap out of the opposing team and hit them on the counter. It's why their games are usually high scoring on both ends because it largely depends on how lenient the ref is being. This has literally always been their game, it was funny to read various sites and forums online where people were watching the Revs for the first time and we're shocked at the way they play.

They were lucky to finish the game with 11 players, let alone pushing to extra time.

That scoreline was flattering to New England. LA hosted a clinic and the Revs got lucky once.
