Montreal did what they had to do today. Let's see if TFC can do their part.Comment

Re: MLS Discussion Thread
OMG! It's going to happen! Altidore with a wonder strike.
Only bad news is that the East Final will be on Tuesday, Nov. 22 and return leg Wednesday, Nov. 30. It would have been better if it was on the weekend.
Olympic Stadium will still rock regardless for the first leg.Comment

At least soccer games don't last 3hrs+. So this one still ends before 10pm, unlike mlb and their 11pm+ finishes on a Tuesday, or random 1pm Thursday games.Comment

Re: MLS Discussion Thread
Why are the games on a weekday? There's only 2 series to even be played....Is a weekday conference finals really the best idea for ratings?

Re: MLS Discussion Thread
Either way, gonna be a great series. Whoever wins, hope they win it all. And this can further the Toronto-Montreal rivalry! Leafs-Habs unfortunately haven't faced off in playoffs in decades, but at least the hockey rivalry spirit can live through this.
It's just 2nd time ever 2 Canadian teams square off in a conference finals in a major pro sports league(I don't count CFL in this). Last was Leafs-Habs in 1978!Comment

So tfc won't be able to play at Rogers centre then? Cause an outdoor game in Toronto at end of November.......

I still don't understand why the first leg can't go Sunday, Nov. 20 in Montreal. I guess it's because TSN is broadcasting CFL East and West Final?
Leafs played the Vancouver Canucks in NFL Western Conference final in 1994. There may be other NHL examples. Obviously it can't happen in MLB or NBA. LOL.Comment

Re: MLS Discussion Thread
You can't have the MLS second leg and the Grey Cup on the same day in the same city even if Rogers Centre was available. Don't forget Grey Cup is on TSN which broadcasts the MLS in Canada.

But even without cfl, surprised no mls game at rogers centre. Unless it's booked up already or something? Cause you know it'll be freezing by that time of year. And Rogers Centre can hold way more people.Comment

Re: MLS Discussion Thread
Just saw that they moved the Western Conference Final first leg to Tuesday because of a Seahawks game. But they left the second leg on the next Sunday, so they'll be playing on short rest at altitude. That second leg might lack a little quality.
In the "first world problem" category, the first leg of the WCF starting right after the ECF means I'll either have to miss the first half, or record the game and stay off social media for awhile after I get home, which is difficult after an Impact match.Impact de Montréal

Re: MLS Discussion Thread
But if it's a Seattle-TFC final it would be in Toronto. They've brought in grass for international club friendles at Skydome. You got to do that for a MLS Cup Final if it happensComment

Re: MLS Discussion Thread
BMO field can expand the number of seats they have can't they? I think the number was something like 40,000 or so? Whatever the setup is for the grey cup and upcoming NHL centennial classic, I'm guessing they use it for this too?Comment

Re: MLS Discussion Thread
Lots of smoke about Adrian Heath signing a contract with Minnesota by the weekend to become their first coach in MLS.
On the one hand, he has experience with guiding a new team into the league.
On the other hand, meh. The team will be about as exciting as a Saltine cracker.Comment
