The FA has stepped up their conspiracy against Arsenal. Purposely trying to blind a player during the match? Disgusting!

What was said at the pub I was at after that happened was pure gold. I'll just leave it at that...

The Arsenal - Crystal Palace game was a good one. I'm following Crystal Palace & Man City as my Premier League teams, so I was looking forward to seeing how CP played after Pulis' untimely departure. They did good, and I actually was beginning to think they could open the season with a victory, but Ramsey just happened to be at the right place at the right time. There was just too much going on after the third deflection for Speroni to keep that one out.

It kind of flew under the radar with the mass exodus, but Dusan Tadic was a really good signing by Southampton.

When can we expect Liverpool to buy him?

I was quite impressed by Southampton. Considering the number of first-team players they lost, they played very well and put a lot of pressure on Liverpool in the last 14 minutes. They should've equalized on that below the post shot and subsequent Long rebound header. If they keep this up, they shouldn't be in any danger of being in a relegation battle.

Security really doesn't care about random pitch invaders. Oh hey, is that Aguero's cousin?

Liverpool - Southhampton was another good match-up. After all I've heard through the summer about people being so confused about Southhampton's motives, I wasn't expecting them to put so much pressure on Liverpool. Liverpool looked legit lost at times when Southhampton would move toward the penalty area. Sturridge & Sterling just proved that they're capable replacements for Suarez though, just those two alone. I'm excited to see more of Southhampton though, to be honest. Wonder if they'll make anymore transfer moves and add to the seemingly competitive team they currently have.

Wasn't as entertained by the Man City/Newcastle game. My guys won, but it was expected. Newcastle kept it close until the end though and Sissokho really should've put that ball into the net with that chance he got.

Random thoughts from the two games:

                      - I thought Sissoko had a horrendous match for Newcastle. That chance that fell to him was a terrific one. Should have tucked it away. Newcastle were intriguing though. Feel like some of those new players should have them beating weaker sides more easily.

                      - City were efficient for most of the game and at times brilliant. That first goal from Silva-Dzeko-Toure was so awesome. I think they were mostly in control of that game.

                      - boy, Glen Johnson had a rough game for Liverpool. Probably feels rattled about the fact that he's most likely the next guy replaced. Liverpool's defense in general could be more problematic than people realize this season. Offensively they still have Sturridge and Sterling, both of which could be even better this season (particularly Sterling)

Liverpool defense will continue to concede lots of goals as long as Skrtel and Johnson are starting. That being said I fully expect Liverpool to retain a top 4 spot.

I know they lost today, but I really liked watching Newcastle.

They're probably too creative for their own good, but I like their flair.

Skrtel played pretty well today. Johnson stood there and watched Southampton's goal happen. He hasn't regained his form since he hurt his ankle last season. And he was playing on the left today, which never works with him. I think he'll be on the bench once Moreno is up to speed.

Skrtel is just very reckless and honestly gets away with a lot of silly fouls and bonehead plays. He's not a top defender and you guys will need to replace him eventually if you want to become an elite European power again.

I agree, tt baffles me with how much he gets away with especially on set pieces.
