Tbh, he has the emotional tie there, which he'll say is a big factor. He enjoyed some good times here, but the real death knell was when we went on that 6 game winning run over October/November and he realised that people still wanted him gone. He killed any respect from fans when he started rattling excuses off for defeats, using such excuses as; The 2012 Olympics, weather, atmosphere from fans' at SJP, ****ING SCIENCE, the size of the club, Notting Hill Carnival, spies, Africa, grass being too long... Yet when we won, he claimed his tactics were spot on... Utter wanker he is.

Sky is reporting that the early favorite for Newcastle is their captain, Coloccini. Wtf?Comment

Re: The 2014-15 EPL Discussion Thread
Sterling and Shelvey should both receive retroactive bans for those two bonehead moves.
Really kind of surprised at Sterling though. This kind of behavior is expected from Shelvey. Sterling on the other hand is up 4-1 in the midst of his teams best performance of the season and he just snaps like that. That kind of nonsense will lose you the game vs a bigger team.Comment

Shelvey gets a ban (rightfully) and Sterling gets nothing.
What a crock of **** the FA is.Comment

Mike Ashley..***ining one club I love. Trying to ruin another club I love.
I'm indifferent on Pardew. It's not exactly the best situation at the Toon, but there were things he did that drove me crazy. But then again, there was that deep run in Europa and he's got Newcastle back in the top half.
But that's all Ashley wants. That, and trying to own more of my other club (Rangers....you think the Newcastle ownership situation is fun, Rangers is downright comical now), which now has a club legend on gardening leave, ran off another club legend from the coaching staff, and most fans are pretty much boycotting the club.Comment

Re: The 2014-15 EPL Discussion Thread
The assistant referee was standing there, saw the Sterling incident, and didn't give anything. Therefore there can be no further action. Right or not, it has always been that way.Comment

Re: The 2014-15 EPL Discussion Thread
Both the linesman and FA screwed that up.
Also that is a very dumb rule.Comment

Re: The 2014-15 EPL Discussion Thread
I agree, but they will always err on the side of protecting their officials. It wasn't a blatant punch or even really much of a slap, so they aren't going to give something after the fact.
They should have taken care of it in the match. Can't be raising your hand in a guy's face like that.Comment

Re: The 2014-15 EPL Discussion Thread
The sad thing is, incidents like this are exactly why diving exists in the modern game. There are so many instances of refs bottling easy decisions like the Sterling/Shelvey incidents, that players almost have no choice but to throw themselves onto the ground upon any contact, it's the only way to get calls anymore.
Both of those players should have seen red.Comment

Something I still don't understand, with the speed of the game and size of the pitch, why not have more than one official on the pitch or even more eyes period.'Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that.'-Bill ShanklyComment

Re: The 2014-15 EPL Discussion Thread
Any of the refs on the field can call a foul/penalty except for the 4th official (I think). In the Sterling incident the side official was standing right there. The only way he could have been closer is if Raheem would have slapped him instead.Comment
