Re: The 2014-15 EPL Discussion Thread

Same as when we had Europa League football, it almost relegated us. It's a needless tournament tbh, it was nice having European nights at SJP but the money from it is piss-poor, the fixture clog is horrid, especially when the FA bend over backwards to re-arrange top 4 teams' games so they get plenty rest. When we asked to move our game v Stoke from a Sat to Sun after a Thurs EL game, it was rejected, just too much of a **** around.

Yup. It ruined Middlesborough too who were a decent 8-9 place EPL side for a few years then made a couple of deep runs in the UEFA CUP and then went down. Other than Spurs, it's a total cluster fugg for English sides in this competition especially with the number of teams and fixtures in the EPL and most squads don't have the funds to go 25 deep on their rosters. I believe the Europa League is truly a waste of time IMHO.

Liverpool finally got some finishing and luck to go with it. They're starting to look a lot more dangerous going forward. Lallana getting into a groove.

Don't even care who comes in as manager of us. Just so happy to see that prick gone. Hate him with a passion.

Any word out your way who may be in contention to replace him?

Re: The 2014-15 EPL Discussion Thread

Frank de Boer was bookies' favourite at one point today, but his agent has said he won't leave Ajax mid-season. Strong rumour starting now that Coloccini may be player/manager, but I doubt that will happen. Big issue is finding a manager who'll work under the owners' regime, but we need someone who won't take **** and won't be a puppet like Pardew was.

NUFC have officially confirmed that they've reached a compensation agreement with CPFC and he's in talks with them right now. So it's all but done.

This pretty much sums up my reaction haha...

Irvine sacked by WBA reports Sky. Not surprising there. Steve Clarke should still be the manger there imo.

I didn't realize Pardew was the lowest-paid manager in the EPL. I knew Ashley was cheap, but damn.

He'd rather piss his money away on division One Scottish football.

Aye, Ashley is a tightwad of the highest order. He's a great businessman no doubt, but great businessmen don't make great football club owners. We need someone who's willing to speculate to accumulate. Ashley injects the bare minimum and in return, we reach our bare minimum of a top 10 finish which keeps him happy. Doesn't want us finishing higher as that means the onus is on him to improve. The season we finished 5th, we should've invested more to ensure we had a squad capable of handling European and domestic competitions. We did next to nothing to ensure we had enough. Nearly cost us our PL status. The man is hated here and has been for years, he hates us just as much.

Pardew hated his Newcastle job so much he rather manage a team trying to avoid relegation.
