Man, Bournemouth did fantastic today. Two great goals in the first 10 minutes. Hope they keep that form up. Would love to see them finish mid table and stay up. And man, that Matt Ritchie goal. Contender for goal of the year.

No, referees have to know better. This can't be allowed to happen.
Mike Dean is quite possibly the worst referee there is. This reaction sums it up very well.
It's disturbing that Mike Dean will sleep well tonight, and think he did everything right. It's disturbing that this isn't the last time Costa will get away with his nonsense, nor is it the last time Dean will be a complete idiot.
The Zouma goal wasn't really attributed to you guys being down a man. Maybe the foul leading up to it but that was just poor marking and not being on the same page with keeping the back-line straight.
I would say it was a good match ruined by bad reffing but even when it was 11v11 it was 2 teams terribly out of form. We don't shoot, you can't finish.Comment

Costa is a menace and a bully. He plays like a bull in a China closet and I love it. He gets under his opponent's skin and it's effective.
I want to assume that most of the ire directed at him is just Chelsea hatred but I suspect as much of it is "beautiful game" pansies.
I hope that most of you who are whining are not Americans. I shudder to think that Americans are such pu**ies.
It's perfectly fine for Chelsea fans to love having him on the team, but let's not pretend that he doesn't act like a scumbag every time he's on the pitch.Comment

Two notable tough guys that played in the EPL: Keane and Viera. They were bullies who didn't resort to baiting players, they just straight up made it known you ain't getting your way with hard tackles. Costa whines and does all this petty **** then acts like he's the victim.

Instead, we'll pretend that United is more than Europa League quality.Comment

The first part of your post though, come on. Don't pretend Keane and Viera were somehow better people than Costa because they weren't whiny. This whole macho bs puts such revisionist spin on some older players it's ridiculous. Keane and Viera were two of the scummiest players of their time. Hard tackles? Those two would regularly injury people, I'd rather play against a wind-up artist than a dude who has less than zero qualms about two-footing me.
It's a different time and a different game now, longing for the "good old days" when you could commit literal assault on the pitch is silly.
Keane was one of the least likeable people to have played in the PL era, I honestly can't believe how many people online are comparing him favorably to Costa, it blows my mind.
I don't condone some of the stuff Diego does, but he's nowhere near the worst. Would people seriously rather see Diego banned from the game than Charlie Adam? I'll take jerks over somebody who enjoys injuring people any day, jerks are easy to deal with.Comment

Re: The 2015-2016 EPL Discussion Thread
Once people stop being upset at Costa, they will be able to see how awful Arsenal were in that game.
The game was ruined by the card, don't get me wrong, but Arsenal were abysmal. You could see they had a similar game plan to the one they were able to beat City with last season, but the execution today was absolute clown college. 11 Arsenal players would still have conceded that first goal. I was terrified when I saw Ivanovic and Alexis on the team sheets, then after about 10 minutes I forgot Alexis was even playing.
Cazorla is a joke of a captain, the Diego incident likely wouldn't have even happened if either team had competent captains on the pitch. Cazorla's contributions were hiding from players fighting each other, and putting in two very deserved yellow card tackles. Arsenal gave the ball away more than I think I've ever seen them do, and even their counterattack plan was crap because Walcott was back on defense most of the game.
Even Arsenal fans on Reddit are admitting they were garbage, and those people are some of the least reasonable sports fans on the internet.
In the end, Arsenal will be saved by Diego from getting the roasting they deserve for that performance.
Or maybe Carragher and Neville will lay into them.Comment

Re: The 2015-2016 EPL Discussion Thread
He should have been sent off BUT a smart player acts like Kosc did in that situation. He was the one who was hit by Costa and he didn't act out in retaliation. He took it and moved away initially. That's experience and not getting caught up in the moment. Gabriel cost you guys the 3 points IMO by losing his cool.
The Zouma goal wasn't really attributed to you guys being down a man. Maybe the foul leading up to it but that was just poor marking and not being on the same page with keeping the back-line straight.
In the long run, I'll take missed points here and there if it means having a player on our squad who doesn't back down. It's something we've been sorely lacking. Flamini has no business being on the pitch right now, but if he was playing yesterday, he too would've been there for his teammate.
What's so frustrating is that for years we've been told we need to be harder, tougher, to not back down—yet when we do just that, then the issue becomes we fell for the games, the cheating, and the disgraceful.
Regardless of how Zouma's goal came, you can't deny that a red card changes a game. Maybe he scores that goal still, but maybe it was to make it 1-1. The fact is that Mike Dean heavily influenced the result of the match, and that's a damn shame.
I have no issue seeing Arsenal lose to Chelsea, as I've become quite used to it. But to lose like that? To those type of players, and that type influencing the referee—I have an issue with that.Comment

Man, what an end to that game. Pellé made a magnificent header (have to applaud him for that.), but after that, De Gea stepped up for those last 10 minutes. That leaping save he made was absolutely magnificent.MLB: Minnesota Twins
