Yeah I mean that's the thing, people always talk about Chelsea being short-sighted and needing managerial stability, but there is a sample size of over 2 decades to suggest that Chelsea doesn't actually need to do that.

Re: The Sack Race aka Official Management Carousel Thread
It came into my head as it has always annoyed me if Arsenal supporters say we won’t spend as much money as others or “we can’t” and people point out that our owner is rich, and we can.
Yes, we can, but to think we will is to reject the reality we live in.
Same for non-Chelsea supporters to fault the club or supporters for accepting what they’ve long ago accepted—the club will spend money and the club will move on from managers quickly. The rest of us need to accept it, just as Chelsea supporters have long ago.
Hopefully that makes sense.Comment

Re: The Sack Race aka Official Management Carousel Thread
Also, for me personally, I made my peace with Lampard getting sacked the moment he was appointed, so I'm probably not as sad as i otherwise would be.
Most Chelsea fans knew this day would come eventually. The hope was there for sure, that he would just learn on the job and become great, but alas it was too big a job to do that properly. It's harsh on Frank and kinda fair at the same time. People talk about managers not getting enough time these days, which I agree with, but at the same time if a manager doesn't have enough of a cv there is no telling if they can pull a team out of a rut. People have compared Lampard to SAF in the beginning at United, but even that isn't really right cause SAF had won trophies as a manager in Scotland before coming to United.
There wasn't enough of a sample size to know if Lampard could pull the team out of this, and I guess the Chelsea board just wasn't willing to risk it, which is probably fair.
I'm pretty confident we will see him back at Chelsea in the future, I do think he has it in him to become a good manager.Yankees, Manchester United, Chicago Bears, New York RangersComment

Yeah the only managerial comparison I can think of is Pep. One year with Barca B and then thrust into the limelight. He just happened to inherit a generational Spain core, a league where their rivals were floundering, and some guy named Messi.
Obviously things worked out pretty for Josep.

Only an 18 month deal? Usually manager deals are like 3 or more. Then again 18 months is usually how long they last in the job anyway.Comment

Re: The Sack Race aka Official Management Carousel Thread
Short term performance based. Like you said, most Chelsea managers don’t get more than 2 years anyway which I’m sure Tuchel understands.

Re: The Sack Race aka Official Management Carousel Thread
Whether or not it's true, it was reported that he wasn't looking for something long-term from the start, either, and instead supported a short-term deal that could then turn into a longer deal.
Once Werner and Havertz pick up form I'm excited for all the nonsensical stories wondering or claiming that it's due to having a German speaking manager. Of course! Why didn't they think of that earlier?!Comment

Tuchel is perfect for us because we are both well known for burning bridges, so we can just burn it together this time.Comment
