Battle for 2nd is shaping up to be fun. Especially considering how willing Mourinho is to play it safe.

Zaha so needs to move to a bigger stage.

Count on him going to Spurs, Chelsea or Arsenal within the next two windows.

While it's true that's how he played against Liverpool and to a certain extent, Tottenham (in large parts of the 1st-half), it also coincides with us having 3 of our 5 first-team midfielders out injured (Pogba, Carrick, Fellaini). Herrera and Matic have been playing as a 2-man mid and so far, we've mostly been overrun and both players are too similar to bring anything different in attack.

It frustrates me that our mid is basically a non-factor in attack for the past few weeks, but I'll chalk it up to injuries. It's a whole 'nother story if we're healthy and we still play hoof-ball with a healthy midfield.

He kind of already did. It just happened to coincide with the Moyes era (terrible football) and LvG era -- LvG possession football which Zaha wasn't fit for.

To be fair Leon, Jose will always bring the bus to an away game vs a big team, even with a fully fit squad

That's usually coupled with good counter-attacking. We've not done that at all ever since Pogba/Felli/Carrick went out.

Spurs have been interested the past 2 windows but Palace wanted way too much for him at the time.

Man, would it ever be hilarious if Wayne Rooney's return season ends in relegation.

I like Everton, so I hope not. However, I can't stand Rooney so...

It CAN be coupled with effective counterattacking, but in the big games it entirely comes down to his players.

Good counterattacking is what he did with RM and Inter, what he does now is set his team up to neutralize and suppress the game, slow everything down and then it’s up to his players to produce bits of individual brilliance to score the goals.

Martin Tyler can make any match watchable.

If there is a good narrative happening (City vs QPR, Chelsea CL final, Martial debut vs Liverpool etc.) then Martin Tyler can still produce some good Martin Tyler moments.

Aside from that, it's pretty painful listening to him. He never gets excited about anything these days, which I totally get since he has been doing this for so long, but he should probably step aside at least just a little bit.

I remember Rashford (who plays for the team Tyler supports no less) scored a really fantastic goal vs West Ham in one of the cup games, and if you weren't watching the game you wouldn't have been able to tell by Tyler's voice that a goal had actually happened.

If you compare him to how loud and excitable he was when he was younger, he is muted for sure, but he can still get up at times.

I had the TV on today while I was in another room for a second, and when he yelled "SHELVEY!" at a shot from distance it scared the **** out of me. I just like how conversational and off the cuff his style is.

I probably should have prefaced my comment by noting that I love Martin Tyler and definitely always will. He is almost certainly one of the best ever live sport commentators.

He can definitely still have some good moments these days, but they are far fewer and far between. Most of the time, I'd prefer White/Drury/Darke to Tyler nowadays.

I like Ian Darke way more than the other two, but they are really good. Darke/McManaman on those old ESPN Monday night football broadcasts were great.
