Re: The 2017-2018 EPL Discussion Thread
Speaking of Burnley...
They haven't won in 11 matches are are still in 7th because good lord that is a trash heap below 6th place.
Yeah, they had a decent start, but they were in 6th (on GD, they were tied with Pool and Spurs on points) at the end of the matchweek of their last win (@ Stoke December 12th).
Only Arsenal has surpassed them even though Burnley has gained a whopping 6 points over those 11 matches.Last edited by ImTellinTim; 02-27-2018, 06:15 PM.Comment

The 2017-2018 EPL Discussion Thread
I'll pass on having to watch Liverpool guys play alongside overrated Man U players who won't deserve to be there based on their play. *coughPogbacough*
In all seriousness, North/South doesn't work for me. Arsenal and Spurs players shouldn't be getting all buddy buddy with each other even if it is for a week. It's just not natural, dammit!
To me footy is at the point where the nba is in terms of “most of these guys know each other either through coming up in the youth systems (international) together, through sponsorship deals, etc...”
I really think fans are the only ones who have a true “hatred” of each other.
Leagues would be fun. The best of Spain vs England, Italy vs Germany, etc... in a little mini-tournament.
And Kreb, you could argue that half of Arsenal’s matches are pointless friendlies.

Re: The 2017-2018 EPL Discussion Thread
But yeah, I think it was a bit different when the top Prem teams had tons of English players, since most of them grew up as fans, or became fans of the club they spent a ton of time at, so the rivalries were super fierce. There was that video recently where Rio, Gerrard and Lampard were talking about how the rivalry of the top teams hurt them on the international scene because it made it hard to play together.
Nowadays, all these teams have players from all over the world, and a lot of them hang out together when they aren't playing. I think an all-star game would be closer to a testimonial with people messing around and having fun, at least that's what I personally would want it to be lol.Comment

I have not watched an All-Star game of any sort in any sport or any league in about 30 years. Huge waste of time. Name the teams but don't play the games.Comment

Re: The 2017-2018 EPL Discussion Thread
What events would they have on All-Star Saturday Night?
A diving contest between Dele Alli, Ashley Young and Raheem Sterling?
A celebration dance off between Roberto Firmino, Michail Antonio and Jesse Lingard?
And the 1st Annual "Serge Aurier's Guide To Committing Foul Throws Seminar."Comment

Anyway, if Young is unavailable for the diving seminar then Mane would be the perfect stand-in.Comment

As for Mane, he's pretty bad at diving. He wouldn't do well in that competition. Needs to work on actually winning penalties and fouls.Last edited by ImTellinTim; 03-02-2018, 05:07 AM.Comment

Just reading stories and seeing pics of the snowfall in the UK. It shows Arsenal players messing around in the snow at the Emirates. Laughed at this post on the message board.
"Apparently reports are coming in that Arsenal players are busy shovelling snow ONTO the pitch at the Emirates"

Did you watch their match against Watford this weekend? Dele Alli is honestly becoming a meme at this point. You know when even the English commentators start pointing this out about an English player that something is up.

Maybe it's just me being a Chelsea fan, but when everybody hates one of our players it just makes me like them more.Comment
