I've watched the replay a bunch of times and still can't understand what the ref thinks he saw.Comment

I just saw it. He got sent off for...an aggressive pet? That’s all I saw.

I know there is plenty of action ongoing currently, but if you have not yet read Jonathan Wilson's piece on the pathetic performance of PSG, you should.

They were awful and still almost managed a draw. Man footy can be weird at times.

Re: 2018-19 UEFA Competitions Thread
There was a huge stink about how silly it was for them to bring in a "throw-in coach", but in reality, it's a set piece, and there's specialized coaching for everything now. Plus, he's basically a consultant and is not their full-time throw-in coach, just someone who came and will come in and do small sessions, etc. Really smart move.
Schalke had a player almost two decades ago calles Tomasz Hajto. That dude could literally throw the ball from one side to the other (he also holds the record for the most bookings in one Bundesliga season - 16!). At that time, throw-ins were a deadly weapon for Schalke. Hope McKennie can get there some time.Comment

I also think that throw-ins are extremely underrated as a set piece. It's basically a cross for some players and you can create an easy chance with it. You also gotta take advantage that there is no offside getting called after an throw-in.

Re: 2018-19 UEFA Competitions Thread
A co-worker was yelling at me about how sports and politics is something that is only big in the United States.
They made this argument as I was watching the Chelsea-PAOK game with the Macedonia banner in the background.

Re: 2018-19 UEFA Competitions Thread
If someone had told me several months back that Rangers would be in the Europa Group Stages and getting a draw against Villarreal on the road, I would call them crazy.
It’s amazing to me how far Rangers have come in such a short time under the leadership of Steven Gerrard.

VAR will be used in UEFA competitions going forward from the 2019-20 season.
Here's to hoping they apply it in earnest, and don't try to muck it up.Support Local Sports
