I'm so glad Ajax started off with a win—really, really hoping to see them advance.

I thought that this year we would be getting less group stage matches but I actually have three to pick from now:

      City-Lyon on something called GALAVISION
      Juve-Valencia on Univision
      Roma-Real on TNT

Not bad at all although two of them are in Spanish

In other news, Pochettino went full Mourinho (or nearly) in his post-game press conference, citing respect and a load of other nonsense.

I love when managers demand to talk about the game or talk about football, when journalists question his self-titled "tactical decisions" to leave out Trippier and Alderweireld is exactly that—trying to discuss football, why you did it, etc.
I think there is a major difference between what Poch said and anything Jose has said. Poch was defending his players by saying it's disrespectful to the players who played by talking about the ones who stayed in England. He even said "blame me, but don't disrespect the players on the pitch."

People say Spurs need to rest players because of the WC, so then they do and people are shocked when the starters are not playing. It was obvious Toby and Trips needed a rest so leaving them home was the plan.

I know there is plenty of action ongoing currently, but if you have not yet read Jonathan Wilson's piece on the pathetic performance of PSG, you should.

Leaving three forwards to float about and occasionally pull off a trick may be enough in Ligue 1 – but not when it comes to elite level. How have PSG not learned?

Not watching another City UCL match until they make a final.

So basically never watching a City UCL match again

Ah, now we can truly say the Champions League is back.

Ronaldo's gonna miss the Old Trafford game because of this red? Well that's no fun.

I’d much rather them make me look like an idiot than be right.

Any time the Champions League anthem plays they turn into choke artists. It’s like some hypnosis ****.

Does UEFA have a system to challenge and overturn?

This Valencia-Juventus match is exhibit one in favour of VARS in Champions League. Some questionable decisions.

Yeah, you can always appeal. I haven't seen it, but it seems like a lot of people are saying it wasn't a red.

It was pretty weak but idk if UEFA will overturn it.

CR7 was making a run in the box and his marker fell over after the slightest of nudges by CR7. Ronaldo then stood over him and kind of touched his head as he was getting up.

I probably could have just found a gif on twitter lol

He tugged the guy's hair when he stood over him. Personally, I'm glad he's finally being punished for something.

He gets punished fairly often for the bonehead stuff he does. He’s seen red something like 10 times in his career.
