Re: 2018-19 UEFA Competitions Thread
Yeah but that was lucky. Lloris has already nearly gifted Messi another goal with a weird decision.
Lamela, Kane and Lucas are all looking great on the ball though... too bad everything falls apart behind them.
EDIT: Kane getting booked for getting kicked by Pique's follow-through... pathetic.Comment

He had a fantastic World Cup though, I don't feel like his like he has declined that much to be honest. That mistake he made is something he always has in his bag from time to time lol.Comment

Don't get me wrong, he had some great moments, but he was also wildly outshone by a keeper that didn't even make the final.Comment

Lloris has been losing it both on and off the pitch. The mistakes on the pitch can be forgiven... but...Comment

Re: 2018-19 UEFA Competitions Thread
Nice match by Sarpsborg 08 against Gent. Sarpsborg comes from six straight losses in the Norwegian league. Rosenborg BK is leading the league and got their asses thoroughly torn apart by RB Salzburg.
Perhaps Slazburg is a better team than Gent, but overall I think the reason why Rosenborg is underperforming in European competitions is because they feel the weight of their past while teams like Sarpsborg comes without expectations or pressure. If Sarpsborg played anywhere near what they did against Gent in the league, they would win with a large margin. They attacked with reckless abandon and defended with determination and strength.
Now it would be silly to draw big conclusions from one round alone, but this has been the picture for a long time for Rosenborg. This time it was Sapsborg who did well, last year it was different Norwegian teams that "overperformed" while Rosenborg underperformed. Rosenborg did beat Ajax 4-2 on aggregate in 2017 but that was about the only decent performance in recent years.
If you consider the actual squad strengths between Rosenborg and the majority of other teams in the league, it's hardly noticable on paper. They're drastically worse than in their heyday but they still win the league on old habit.Comment

French authorities investigate whether PSG game against Red Star was fixed
Both clubs have strongly denied wrongdoing after L’Équipe reported that a Red Star official was suspected of betting €5m (£4.4m) on the team losing by five goals in a match PSG won 6-1. The newspaper said French authorities were warned by Uefa of a possible manipulation of the result days before the 3 October game at the Parc des Princes.

If true, how does someone in that position allow something like that to be tied back to them? Amazing.Comment
