While the keepers position sort of matters, it’s still an obvious goal scoring opportunity and Christensen took a 50/50 ball as the last man and made it a 100/0 ball so definitely red.

I need to see it again, but IF Christensen's not pulling on his shoulder surely Mane reaches the ball before Kepa.

EDIT: Seen it again, don't think Mane would have. Hendo's pass had too much pace on it.

By "pulling on his shoulder" do you mean hugging him from behind while simultaneously falling onto him?

If you are Chelsea you definitely keep Werner on as your one chance for a counter and goal with his speed.

Also, I had the thought of "an experienced player will make a better decision there", as going down a goal is better than going down a man at that stage.

But then I thought about what David Luiz would've done and I realized sometimes experience has nothing to do with it.

Deliberate fouls will still incur a red card.
Those include holding, pulling or pushing, not playing the ball, serious foul play, violent conduct or deliberate handball in order to deny a goalscoring opportunity.

Kepa's position doesn't matter here based on the rule. It was a clear non playing the ball, serious foul. So by the rules, its a straight red. If Mane could get there first or not is irrelevant based on Kepa's position. Because its an opportunity for him to make a play on the ball that is denied by a clear non playing of the ball foul. You can debate if it was "serious or vilolent", but if you say that happen to a non Chelsea player I don't think you'd question it. It was absolutely a direct red.

The first half was entertaining, but I feel like Chelsea down to ten will make this even more entertaining as a neutral, as Liverpool will press for a goal more than before, which could give Chelsea better chances on the counter.

Or it's a dud, or a blowout.

Nah.

This play was 100% lack of trust between our defenders and Kepa. Christensen would rather football tackle Mane than leaving the ball for Kepa even though there’s almost no way Mane actually controls that pass.
