The injury time of Uruguay-Ghana was electric with both teams desperately trying to score.

And Suarez hiding in his jersey, crying like a baby was kind of fun, too

So glad to see Uruguay going home. They spent more time and effort in that match attacking the refs versus trying to score another goal.

100% agree and it pains me because the country has very talent players from a strictly skill standpoint.

They looked like they were about to beat the refs’ *** after the match. Pushing him and followed him down the tunnel.

Our “ball skills” were not the issue in any of our games, hell our midfield 3 actually completely controlled the midfield in all 3 games including England. A large portion of the current squad plays in Europe, with a handful playing for some of the biggest clubs in the world.

Our current issues are our coach being terrible, and not having an elite goal scorer. Our attack is actually pretty good, but they can’t finish a sandwich and every team we play against knows that, it takes a lot of pressure off their (opposing defensive players) shoulders knowing there isn’t that one guy they really need to worry about.
I disagree about the ball skills. Watch some of the better European and South American teams and they just don't compare. The US won't go far here the way the team is currently constructed. Soccer has gained in popularity in the US among younger kids for the past 30 years but there hasn't really been much improvement at all. Large population but the best athletes do not play soccer here so you're stuck with average athletes for the most part. Good enough to get out of group but that's it.

Well that's incredibly different. I'm sure thr ball is able to detect contact, but it cant detect a white line on the pitch without the magnetic wires aiding that.

Only if the team he coaches goes out from a bs red card when someone feigns injury from a challenge.

Belgium, Uruguay, Mexico, Germany could have themselves a nice consolation tournament.

Serbia had a 3-3 match with Cameroon and it’s 2-2 versus Switzerland already

Not directly related to this WC, but 2026 and worth sharing: https://twitter.com/AtaqueFutbolero/...vbx3M7rwu98LVQ

Translation, Marcelo Bielsa named the Uruguayan NT manager beginning in 2023. One of the most influential managers of this generation, should be interesting to see what he can do with that country's talent.

If I'm reading the playoff bracket correctly, we could see some spicey match ups in the quarterfinals like Spain-Portugal and England-France but now that I've pointed it out, I've probably jinxed it.
