Not surprised. Was anxious about this one and like Pack said, we’ve seen this before with the Croatian side.

Let’s go Argentina (on this side of the bracket).

Crazy match. Never thought Croatia would come back in extra time.

I was kind of thinking the Yankees. Lots of great history but everyone apart from the home fans are happy when they get beat.

It certainly is funny that Brazil's best showing at a World Cup since they won it in 2002 ended with them losing 7-1 at home then losing the third place match.

They have just wilted under any sort of pressure.

I've never been a fan of a team like Brazil completely changing their philosophy after a goal. They were extremely lazy with the ball in the 2nd ET.

                        Messi unreal.

I wasn’t big into Soccer at the time like I am now but was that Germany team that good at the time or did Brazil just basically **** the bed to a lesser talented team?

                              That should seal it.

West Germany/Germany, up until 2018 and this year, had made at least the semifinals in 12 of the previous 16 World Cups.

They were certainly among the favorites to win in Brazil, but so were Brazil. What happened in that match is Brazil flat-out quit like 15 minutes into the match. I've never seen anything like it on that stage, and nothing like it will ever been seen again.

It also has to be pointed out that Neymar was straight up assaulted by a Chilean player earlier in the tournament and had a broken back so couldn't play in the 7-1. I don't know if you recall the coverage around that time, but everyone acted like Neymar had passed away lmao

Final edit - Also, Brazil's captain this time around, Thiago, picked up a yellow card in the quarterfinals for one of the dumbest things. He tried to block the keeper by coming from behind when he was about to kick the ball dropping it from his hands. A textbook stupid yellow card that meant he was suspended for the semifinal for yellow accumulation. His replacement, Dante, sucked, and their defensive pairing of him and David Luiz was comically absent on most of Germany's goals.
