It's always piece by piece, and that was the issue with the Super League. The idiots tried to do it once to punish UEFA, but it was never going to work. Year by year slowly change how the league operates and push it more towards franchise models? That's how it's done.

I know, I know, but The Todd didn't say anything of the sort, but it's there underpinning everything and we all know it. I personally ****ing loathe how all American sports leagues operate which is why for now nearly two decades I've followed other leagues from around the world.

The slightest hint of American sports exceptionalism thinking makes me vomit, and I don't care what anyone says or how The Todd's comments were prompted—that's what he's bringing to the league, make no mistake about it (and he's not introducing it—he's joining it).

Of course there's far other things within the league or game to discuss, but throwaway side comments are often used to test the water and can often show how someone truly views something.

Although, I already mostly hate the Premier League, so maybe I shouldn't really care, but that's my "freak out" that isn't really a freak out, just a refusal to brush aside throwaway comments and avoid the entire concept of nuance.

For the record, you can guarantee if The Todd owned Chelsea in April of 2021, he would've been listed as one of the vice-chairmen of 'The Super League' along with Stan Kroenke, Joel Glazer, and John Henry. It doesn't matter what his comments on it are now—he would've been on board to begin with. That's why his comments, however mundane and prompted have struck a chord with so many.

There, I, by myself, discussed it in length—shame.

Did they bury the queen yet? **** me.
I don't necessarily disagree with what you are saying, the problem is that this random throwaway comment is currently getting more attention and airplay than anything regarding newcastles owners etc.

There are far more worrisome things that should definitely be discussed right now imo.

There are, but it's the pathetic state of mainstream sports journalism. Ask only questions of those who make themselves available, and don't ask questions of those who should have to answer for their actions as they relate to those who will not make themselves available.

Eddie Howe can talk about how his "specialist subject is football" as much as he wants to, but it doesn't mean he shouldn't be peppered with questions regarding Newcastle's ownership. If he or the club get sick of it, send out someone to answer those questions instead.

People like The Todd, and I'd even say Josh Kroenke will always have more headlines written about them because they make themselves available, because they want headlines written about them (although they won't have control over what they say).

Is he asked about it weekly? Last I knew he was asked about it when he took the job and then everyone moved on after he was like gee whiz guys, I’m just a football manager.

I’m not a baseball fan so I’d be curious to hear how “available” Boehly is with the Dodgers. Part of me thinks he’s so out there because we don’t have many permanent people in the highest of management levels there.

              Oh I’m not sure.

I’m just talking about the part where you mentioned the team can send someone out there to answer those questions if he doesn’t want to.

I know over here, if a player/coach says they’re not going to be answering questions(let’s say about a player’s or their own contract status)for the rest of the season, it’s pretty much respected…because the media here want to be able to keep access to certain people.

Well, you know what I mean. He's a public face of the club, where as I don't believe Mohammad bin Salman (yeah I had to use Wikipedia but it was familiar once I saw it) is going to be attending press conferences in England.

Welcome back from an especially long feeling interlull.

The NLD is as cracked out as anyone who's watched the two teams would've expected.

Such a dumb challenge by Emerson. Martinelli was dribbling back towards his own goal lol.

Before the match it was common, I'd say, for Arsenal supporters to look forward to Martinelli torturing him, frustrating him, etc.

Spurs Apologists (between eating their hair): "Uhh, he just mistimed it and was a step too late."

No, he was frustrated and decided to kick someone's ankle. Rightfully dismissed. I love it when elite athletes suddenly no longer have control over their body and actions when it suits them.

Can we start the season over?

We are being torn to shreds. TAA has been all over the place yet again.

Just saw the 1st half highlights of Palace/Chelsea. How was Thiago Silva NOT sent off? Blatant handball and was the last defender. Then he gets an assist for Aubameyang's goal to boot.
