Actually a pretty embarrassing display by Villa overall tbh. Really annoying group of players.

And it isn’t even worth discussing the inconsistency in how VAR checks are handled. It’s just complaining into the void at this point.

It was pretty crazy that VAR looked at that Mings kick to Gakpo’s chest and was like “naaa, that’s not a dangerous play”.

Idk what VAR was checking in the goal they called off for Liverpool because I had the sound off. There was a lot going on in that play.

I'm sure Howard Webb is going to work really, really hard this Summer and get it all sorted out.

      No, really.

On the disallowed goal it was whether the defender deliberately played the ball. Because the header by Diaz was played slightly forward and VVD is in an offside position. Then it comes off the Villa defender to VVD. Judgement call. I’m more annoyed by the fact that, once again, a borderline red isn’t even further looked at because “He GoT ThE BaLl”

I was gonna make a comment about how Pep should celebrate tomorrow by fielding the entire academy team, but losing to a team of 16 year olds would probably be pretty damaging.

Yep, all set for plucky Everton to narrowly avoid relegation with the 8th most expensive team in the league

This is where I do my usual echoing of "I can't help but wonder what could've been" if Everton actually allowed Marcel Brands to do things his way. Wouldn't have brought in so much expensive dead weight wouldn't have gone for Ancelotti, etc.

Honestly, it's likely they'd be putting in a decent fight for a European spot.

I don't even mean this is a troll-ish way, but I'm truly baffled by how quickly the football world and especially the English media have seemingly moved on from how awful Chelsea have been. Crystal ****ing Palace are currently above them. Fulham, Brentford, and Aston Villa will finish above them. Maybe we all got it out of our system early, but if you stop and look at it again it's astonishing given the investment.

(This thought is brought to you by a mere 5% 'why are people talking about Arsenal bottling it and not Chelsea being an embarrassment')

Honestly Kreb...I think we've been BAD this year for SO LONG that it just kind of got old and uninteresting to the media but tbh I usually just watch fan casts and shows on YT and we've RIGHTLY been catching hell.

Regarding Arsenal bottling the league....I think it's more pronounced because you all a much larger fan base and by far the biggest presence online.

Probably because we’ve done this before lmao.

Certainly not this bad, but we’ve regularly had years where we finish embarrassingly low compared to our resources.

I agree though there’s probably not enough attention, this is by far the worst it’s been.

I think this is it. I've just accepted Chelsea are absolute **** right now and this season has been dead for awhile. We'll jump on them again if they are trash next year.

It’s because they do things like win the Champions League or a random league title within a year or two before and after doing this. It’s just regular Chelsea stuff.

Hey, maybe Leicester can pull off the shocker tomorrow, or against West Ham next week. I trust them more than Leeds.

I’d argue what makes this uniquely different is the transfers, new ownership, and hiring then firing Potter in the same season.

It’s pretty ****ing crazy and nothing like Jose’s awful season, for example.

Honestly, the last 2 years have been crazy and that’s saying a lot. The poor planning and lack of a solid organizational structure under Roman fed right into the hands of a naive and inexperienced new ownership group to create the perfect sh** sandwich lol. Signing all of the players we did in the summer without any sense of a strategy and then throwing them on a manager who was the face of the club when we we’re literally operating week-to-week was pretty terrible, especially for someone with the kind of combative personality as Tuchel who was also going thru a divorce at the time so he probably was even more agitated.

We’re used to papering over the cracks and still winning things. We were wrong and probably deserved a few slices of humble pie.

Poch has clashed with owners too so Boehly & company better get their ish together and trim the squad even if that means terminating some of the bad contracts he inherited

Well, Newcastle are in the Champions League.

                                Gross.
