The great Brighton I've been hearing about lol. You can thank them for keeping Everton up again this season.

Southampton sacked Hasenhuttl only to end up with his inexperienced assistant as their manager.Comment

It looks like Leicester is going down. Last three against Liverpool, Newcastle and West Ham. I can't see them getting a result against Liverpool or Newcastle and three points against West Ham might not be enough.
They'll really need Everton to bottle things now which is still a possibility.Comment

Re: 2022-23 English Football Thread
Yeah, that's the great Brighton, from a city of 277,000 whose Owner is a lifelong supporter and whose grandfather helped run the club at one time. The little club does rank 23rd in the 'Money League' but hey, they do play in the richest league in the world. Still, they've never as a club played in a European competition, and what have they done this year so far?
- 5th in Goals
- 5th in xG
- 5th in Goals Allowed
- 3rd in xGA
- 6th in points per match
- 4th in XGD/90 (expected goal difference per 90 minutes)
- 4th in progressive carries and passes (they play great football)
Stupid little club from the South coast.Comment

It takes no time to look all that up and type it (and I love looking that **** up anyway).
Let’s not pretend like I’m fuming—I was going to look at those stats in a few days anyway, I’m sure.Comment

In Championship news, Sunderland are in the playoff their first year back and Millwall completely bottled it. They were up 3-1 and lost 4-3.Comment

I’d be a bit bummed to see them drop, but it’s been coming for many years at this point.

Which is sad—second year after they came up they finished 8th, followed by 7th, then 6th, then 8th. Then the every year is a relegation scrap started, five years in a row now.Last edited by Krebstar; 05-08-2023, 10:03 PM.Comment

Re: 2022-23 English Football Thread
Man refereeing needs an overhaul or something. How can you watch both the Martinelli and Caicedo challenges and think neither deserves any card at all? Like good lord Martinelli isn’t even challenging for the ball, and he clearly wasn’t even remotely sorry.
Tbh I’m already upset in advance that it’s going to take a player getting seriously injured before they consider any sweeping changes.Comment

They use their stupid decisions to justify more stupid decisions which makes it even worse. You know the thinking was, well, Caicedo definitely was late and deserves a booking…but now that I think about it I really should’ve booked Martinelli. Damn, I guess we’re even and nobody can complain.
That was setting the stage for yet another infuriating and cowardly refereeing performance (from the perspective of both clubs).Comment
