Sky is reporting that Danny Welbeck is having a medical at Arsenal.

I'll gladly take him over Sanogo at this point.

I really wish this is just a loan. Dat Guy is United through and through -- I'd hate to see him go.

Apparently, the early report is £6m + wages loan, with an option for a cheap buy.

EDIT: Hah, nevermind. All sorts of numbers now. £18m to buy, £3m to loan. Or, who really knows.

I know this has passed long ago but Chelsea is clearly the winner of this transfer window. Getting Costa and Fabregas plus getting Torres off the books. But someone please tell me what PSG were smoking when they bought David Luiz for 50m!!!

United selling Welbeck to Arsenal is madness. Direct rival for 4th place, in DESPERATE need of a striker in the middle of an injury crisis, why on earth would United give them a striker?

Not to mention Welbeck is far better than most people rate him. Frightening pace, good technical abilities and solid link up play, extremely athletic, his only real weakness is his finishing which can easily be improved. This has at least a mild chance of backfiring spectacularly on United.

He's okay. He won't win us a CL or a title. Having him, Walcott and Sanchez will make good teams not press up the pitch that high against us anymore thus putting less pressure on our defence.

He's not amazing but he has a lot of potential still and is miles better than Sanogo.

Like I said, it solves a problem for you guys that United shouldn't want solved.

Slow down. Agger was absolutely class. Pursued by Barca and Man City prior to the start of last season. Knee injuries let him down. He's in another class thang any of United's current center halves.

I agree, he is very underrated. I've always thought he could be the next RVP if given enough patience and playing time.

True. Also, the United fans at Redcafe seem pretty upset about him leaving. They all seem to think he's going to live up to his potential. Some of them would rather see RVP go. Interesting. Huge contrast between what both sets of fans think of him.

The one time he got an extended run at center striker he scored 6 goals in 7 games, I don't think it's out of the question to assume he will live up to his potential. Also doesn't surprise me to hear United fans would want RVP gone, with his injury history and age he can't have much more than a few years left in him at the top level, Welbeck on the other hand is 23 and was bred entirely in the United system.

I'd be furious if I was a United fan.
