    Re: The Transfer Thread

    Welbeck is official.

Danny Welbeck has joined Arsenal for an undisclosed fee on a long-term deal. The 23-year-old England international forward joins Arsenal from Manchester United, where he made a total of 142 appearances, scoring 29 goals. Since making his senior debut in 2008, Welbeck has also won 25 England caps. Welbeck, who can play as a centre forward or a winger, developed through the youth ranks at Man United and during his time at Old Trafford had successful loan spells at Preston North End and Sunderland.

As for why United would sell him to us, they're finally paying us back for selling them that title a few years ago.

I'm quite surprised City let Negredo leave on loan and not bring anyone in. Especially with the injury history for Aguero and Jovetic.

        Falcao to United also official

I'd say that United are going to do a Liverpool but, sadly, a defense that featured Glenn Johnson is still better than what United has to offer right now.

I'd be furious if I was a United fan.
I'm sad, not furious. He's the stand-out talent among his batch in the academy, been with the club since he was 7-8, only 23 and has time to fulfill his potential. Dat Guy is United born & bred and yet we sold him for I don't know what reason. As cool as the Falcao signing is, this dampens it a lot.

I can only hope there's a buyback clause in there.

Edit: This guy on reddit basically sums my feelings up, but from a person living in Manchester point of view.

Judging by what we've seen from United so far this season, that's very generous. I'm predicting they finish 8th. You don't lose to MK Dons 4-0 and challenge for a title.. They might as well play with no one in the back.

That game was played with a squad mostly made up of the youth team, a lot never having played first-team football, with only Evans as the veteran on defense. It's not an excuse to lose to MK Dons 4-0, but having an informed opinion would be nice.

Federico Fazio and Benjamin Stambouli, I do not know much about them and looking at numbers doesn't really tell the whole story. Do you think they will be improvements?

Looks like Cleverly to Aston Villa on loan also went through late last night after the permanent deal fell through.

I'm wishing he has his Ramsey transformation with Villa and then comes back to us. Y'know, just to prove Sir Alex was right in placing a lot of faith in him. People seem to forget he was quite good for us in his injury-shortened debut season to the first team back in 11-12 and also looked good in Sir Alex's final year partnering Carrick.

Pochettino doesn't like classic midfield destroyers, which is why he got rid of Sandro. He likes more rounded ball playing DMs which is why he liked Schneiderlin. Stambouli is probably going to be one of your main CMs. I think Fazio is a center back.

What do you think happens when Benteke comes back in regards to Weiman (sp) & Gabby? Weiman has been playing well so far when he isn't kicking the ball away getting needless yellows and costing my fantasy team points, lol.

When Benteke and Kozak both come back, I'm sure they will move Gabby out to the wing/front 3 spot that N'Zogbia is in right now.

Villa play a hybrid 4-3-3/4-5-1 right now. Insert Benteke and Kozak and Weimann go back to the "wing"/forward spot that flanks them.

In short, Weimann should not be affected at all. Gabby will play a spot much more suited for him, though. Gabby is just an awful striker but he's really effective when he is stretching a defense with his pace and then holding up play.

Supposedly Torres is on his way to Atletico in a lone swap for Cerci. Great move by Milan and I'm sure Chelsea won't block it.
