To be fair, Caroll looked fantastic at Newcastle. At the time there was nothing in his game that would have suggested he'd be such a huge flop. Also, injuries have not been kind to him. He was the top English striking prospect for a while there.

Re: The Transfer Thread
Stoke going in for Dzeko.
Gotta hand it to them, they really are trying to make a legitimate jump to the next level. People are making fun of them for going after players like Dzeko and Shaqiri, but might as well try right? If your club ISN'T being bought by a billionaire then how else are you going to jump up? Just go for it and see what happens.
Who knows, maybe they will even get rid of Charlie Adam.Comment

Re: The Transfer Thread
A guy who a lot was headed either out on a cheap deal or on a free, Fabian Delph just re-signed for 4 and a half years with Villa.
Massive. For a team as weak as they are in the mid field, Delph will certainly help.Too Old To Game Club

Re: The Transfer Thread
Just had a good laugh at this from the Guardian's live transfer page:
Some word knocking around today that Aston Villa’s move for Scott Sinclair has been revived, after the initial transfer was called off when rust was found on the winger’s joints. Possibly.
Football Clichés @FootballCliches Follow Scott Sinclair's Aston Villa medical presumably to check he hasn't gnawed off both of his own feet through sheer inactivity since 2012.

Re: The Transfer Thread
Sinclair off to Villa on a season long loan.
Finally a wide player. Having had to suffer the wide play that is Charles N'Zogbia the past few years, Sinclair cannot possibly be wo....

Finally going to a club where he'll play consistently. Since moving to City 2 1/2 years ago, he's had 29 appearances in all competitions. And all of 4 this season so far.Comment

Re: The Transfer Thread
Overall a pretty lacklustre deadline day. One deal that I think was up there as the best of the day is Southampton signing Ryan Bertrand on a permanent deal from Chelsea.Comment

Re: The Transfer Thread
I loved Shirley and will definitely miss him, but Bertrand actually makes me upset.
For some reason my team can't stop buying fullbacks. People keep saying Bertrand isn't Chelsea quality, but he's been one of the best fullbacks in the league all season. He's done everything he's ever been asked of by Chelsea, has been great during every loan (and there have been lots), debuted out of position in the freaking CL final and played fantastically.
I'm just mad he never got a chance. I see no reason he couldn't play over Filipe Luis.Comment

Re: The Transfer Thread
Not a player transfer but possible manager transfer...
Klopp may leave at the end of the season
If he doesn't take a sabbatical, he'd be a favourite to take over City if they sack Pellegrini. Arsenal would suit him, but they're content with Wenger and a Champions League spot.Comment
