    Re: The Transfer Thread

FoxSoccer.com is reporting that Arsenal have officially signed Samir Nasri. Transfer & contract details were not disclosed, as Wenger would only say that he signed a "long-term" contract. A related article implies that this should pave the way for the sale of Aleksander Hleb in the coming days.

I love the signing, maybe even more so if it finally pushes through the sale of Hleb. Alex obviously wants to leave, so lets get what we can for him. I imagine the transfer fees will be comparable, which fits nicely into Wenger's overall financial scheme. Not to mention that Nasri should prove a good match for the Gunners style of free-flowing attacking football. Hleb never seemed content with his role in the squad, aside from the brief spell last season when he was deployed in the center of the pitch playing just off of Adebayor. I believe he stated multiple times that he was not comfortable playing out wide. I think its also important to remember that he only scored 10 times in three years in North London...

Are Kojak and Silly that stupid?!?! What is this love affair with Sheva? He left. Let him be. It's is time to get over the Shevchenko saga. He is not the only striker out there. Gosh.

        Re: The Transfer Thread

I'm excited we got Nasri....he's a star in the making and Wenger will only help him develop as a player. 12 million will be a bargain IMHO in a couple of years once he settles. I know Hleb's leaving and i liked him a lot, but he's not going to be a big loss. remember he struggled a lot in his first couple of seasons and it was only last year where he really started to shine. Even then, he wasn't as good last winter as he had been earlier.

I think we have as good a chance as anyone to win....if RVP can finally stay healthy and show his Euro form, we're a pretty good team. I wouldn't mind another central defender, but that's another story for another day

                      Re: The Transfer Thread

As a proud Gooner, I would be very pleased if this move happens. For those who are too lazy to check out the link, its a rumored swoop for Gareth Barry. Apparently Mr. O'Neill isn't impressed with Mr. Benitez's negotiating skills...

Not as pleased if they splash the rumored 24M for Andrei Arshavin. He undoubtedly has a great deal of skill, but he's awfully small which makes his success in the Premiership somewhat questionable. Bottom line, just too much cash for someone who isn't a proven commodity...

I'll be stoked if that happens.
