7.51 Liverpool are ready to up the ante in their bid to land Tottenham striker Robbie Keane. It has been reported a £20million bid for the Irishman is being readied.

8.11 Fulham goalkeeper Ricardo Batista has signed for Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon. In four years in West London, Batista failed to make a Premier League appearance.

8.41 Russia star Andrei Arshavin has reiterated his desire to join Barcelona and revealed that he is only playing for Zenit while waiting for a transfer. He is, though, worried the Catalan club cannot afford him.

      Re: The Transfer Thread

9.14 Manchester City striker Ched Evans has ended speculation over his future by signing a new long-term deal at Eastlands. A successful loan spell at Norwich last season had seen a number of Championship sides hanker after his signature.

9.30 Hull striker Caleb Folan is another striker set to earn a new deal, after a clause in his contract triggered fresh terms at the KC Stadium.

9.41 Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher insists speculation over his future does not bother him. Everton have been linked with the Scot but Fletcher is more than happy at Old Trafford.

9.53 It would appear a week is a long time in football as Carlos Queiroz has already buried his Manchester United allegiance. When quizzed on Cristiano Ronaldo's future, Portugal's new coach shrugged his shoulders and basically said 'nowt to do me' - in Portuguese.

10.07 Skysports.com understands Portsmouth are weighing up a move for former Manchester United man Quinton Fortune. Ipswich are also interested in the South African.

10.23 West Ham United have completed the signing of Hungarian starlet Balint Bajner. The promising striker had previously been on trial at Inter Milan and Lazio.

10.36 Sunderland midfielder Arnau Riera has agreed to return to Falkirk on a season-long loan, skysports.com can confirm.

10.43 Pablo Aimar has spurned a move to Newcastle in order to sign for Benfica. The Argentine ace had been strongly linked with a move to St James' Park having signalled his intent to leave Real Zaragoza.

10.50 Slavia Prague defender Marek Suchy has revealed that Aston Villa and Newcastle United have been in contact with his agent Pavel Vandas.

Should the Gunners move for Alonso, it would certainly clear the path for Liverpool to seal a deal for Gareth Barry, who is also interesting Arsenal.

10.43 The agent of Xabi Alonso has claimed the Liverpool midfielder is aware of interest from Arsenal. Alonso had looked to be on his way to Juventus before the Old Lady declared there would be no more summer spending. Where will the Euro 2008 winner be playing his football next season?
Now this is out of the blue! Have to admit I like the idea of an Alonso & Cesc partnership. Aside from the stupid potential quota implications, I think I would take Alonso over Barry...

I will be very upset if he leaves the Bridge. While I will definately miss Lamps if he leaves for Inter, the thought of seeing Anelka starting up front full time makes me want to throw up.

On a sidenote, I love seeing random footy jerseys while walking around DC at lunch. I saw an Ivory Coast-Drogba one yesterday on a girl. So random.

17.23 Probably the most far-fetched piece of speculation so far this summer is that Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o has arrived in Uzbekistan ahead of a proposed move to PFC Kuruvchi. Could this transfer really go through?

                    Here's PFC Kuruvchi's website: http://www.pfc-kuruvchi.com/eng/index.asp Eto'o is all-over the front page!
