9.14 Manchester City striker Ched Evans has ended speculation over his future by signing a new long-term deal at Eastlands. A successful loan spell at Norwich last season had seen a number of Championship sides hanker after his signature.

9.30 Hull striker Caleb Folan is another striker set to earn a new deal, after a clause in his contract triggered fresh terms at the KC Stadium.

7.30 Gilberto's departure could kick-start one of the summer's more surprising transfers, according to reports. Liverpool's Xabi Alonso is wanted by Arsene Wenger to partner Cesc Fabregas in a new look Arsenal midfield. Should the Gunners move for Alonso, it would certainly clear the path for Liverpool to seal a deal for Gareth Barry, who is also interesting Arsenal.

10.43 The agent of Xabi Alonso has claimed the Liverpool midfielder is aware of interest from Arsenal. Alonso had looked to be on his way to Juventus before the Old Lady declared there would be no more summer spending. Where will the Euro 2008 winner be playing his football next season?

Now this is out of the blue! Have to admit I like the idea of an Alonso & Cesc partnership. Aside from the stupid potential quota implications, I think I would take Alonso over Barry...

9.36 Chelsea striker Didier Drogba will decide on his future within the next ten days, according to his agent. Barcelona, AC Milan and Inter Milan are all reportedly interested in Drogba, but his agent now claims he could decide to remain at Stamford Bridge.

I will be very upset if he leaves the Bridge. While I will definately miss Lamps if he leaves for Inter, the thought of seeing Anelka starting up front full time makes me want to throw up.

On a sidenote, I love seeing random footy jerseys while walking around DC at lunch. I saw an Ivory Coast-Drogba one yesterday on a girl. So random.
