      Re: The Transfer Thread

I was resigned to the fact he was going at some point. Very surprised to see it done now with how Barcelona are steamrolling La Liga, not to mention he is cup tied. To his credit I will say he played at full tilt despite putting in a transfer request, can't knock him for effort.

Going to be very hard to replace him. Reports going around that we may take a pop at Riyad Mahrez. Not the same type of player at all but I would not be against that at all.

Really think we need to invest a VAST majority of that money into getting a top drawer goalkeeper and a defensive midfielder.

£142M (£105M upfront and the rest, £37M, tied to performance related add-ons.

          Anyone know what those are?

Barcelona have put together a package worth a basic fee of £106m, plus a further £36m in variables, of which £26m should be easily met. After the £105m basic, an additional £17m would be payable for the first 100 games Coutinho plays for Barcelona, £4.4m per 25 games. A further £4.4m would be paid for Champions League qualification in the first two seasons with a £4.4m bonus for winning the competition.

Can't find info on the last 10M though. Its probably him winning personal awards or something.

Huh, looks like no time is being wasted bringing in a creative player. Riyad Mahrez reportedly will have a medical tomorrow ahead of a 49 mil move to Liverpool. Now all we need is PEA to complete the set of top 5 African players.

EDIT: Not being reported yet by the most reliable sources, so maybe put this one on hold.

Rangers are trying to right some of the wrongs of the Caixinha era. First...let's loan Carlos Pena back to Caixinha at Cruz Azul. Pena showed up in Glasgow out of shape and had fitness issues. Good riddance.

(Speaking of Pedro, he said his current Cruz Azul side could beat the Rangers squad he built...then he got booed off the pitch in their first match....lol. Reading his quotes...he said the same nonsense when he took over at Rangers..."best team I've managed in my career"...."best squad of players I've ever had to work with"..."we will get better"..."I want us to be aggressive"...just waiting for him to say they are the best squad in Mexico...yes he said this current Rangers squad is better than Celtic, which any self-respecting Rangers fan know is not the case)

Rangers then made Declan John's loan move from Cardiff permanent. I like Declan out on the left, and I personally like him better at left back than Lee Wallace. He does get caught going forward a little too much, but as a USMNT fan, I'm used to the left back getting caught out of position lol.

Rangers brought in former Man United youth and QPR midfielder Sean Goss on loan. Sean will probably play in the holding mid role, which will allow Rangers to move Ross McCrorie back to his more natural center back role, especially with rumors that Bruno Alves may want to leave Rangers since Caixinha was canned (again....good riddance).

Rangers today brought in Jamie Murphy on loan from Brighton, with Rangers having first option to buy him at the end of the loan spell. I think this move for Rangers is a bit of a coup.

And the first team was bolstered by the returns of Andy Halliday and Michael O'Halloran from loan...two players who had got lost in the shuffle when Caixinha was running the club into the ground. Rangers are in Florida for the 2018 Florida Cup, so it will be interesting to see how things shake out.

As soon as United wrap up their 850k per week deal with Alexis they will increase their bid to 1.8bn to bring Neymar to Old Trafford.

Looks like Naby Keita's coming to Liverpool next week instead of July 1st.

EDIT: A James Pearce block has occurred, but there are still pretty good sources reporting they've reached a deal.

Rumored an additional 17m is needed.

If he can help secure back to back top 4 (when was the last time that happened?) then it's totally worth the money honestly.

Plus, how do cup ties work again? Isn't he available to play for you guys in the CL once Leipzig gets knocked out?

Anyway, I'd say it's worth it.

Once you've played in the Group Stages, you're tied no matter what. I believe you can play in the preliminary rounds then move clubs and play for another as long as your first club dropped out of the CL. And you can only have 1 player fit this exception even if you have multiple that are eligible.

But yeah, he's still worth it. Especially if we're just essentially paying the "if they qualify for the CL" premium plus a few million.

                            Ok that makes sense.

Like I said, still worth it for sure. You could pretty much just have Keita play in every league game since you wouldn't have to worry about fatigue due to CL.

All you guys need is a functional DM and a keeper and we might actually have to start worrying about you guys again.

Alexis is not in the squad and did not travel with the team today. He's certainly off to Manchester, and it might even be...gulp...United.
