7.17 Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill is in the market for a new left-back following Wilfred Bouma's serious injury at the weekend. Will this only strengthen the Ulsterman's resolve to keep Gareth Barry?

7.20 Tottenham's Robbie Keane is on the cusp of his dream move to Liverpool, according to reports in today's press. An updated Paper Talk coming up...

8.07 According to the gospel of truth that is the Daily Star, Thierry Henry is on his way to Manchester United. But who cares about this football nonsense when they're also reporting Myleene Klass is to replace Carol Vorderman on Countdown.

8.17 In accordance with every pre-season since 1986, Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp is hopeful striker Kanu will sign a new one-year contract. We all know the chirpy Nigerian will eventually sign and Harry will pay tribute to his favourite impact player off the bench.

8.37 Sir Alex Ferguson has delivered a typically frank assessment of Sepp Blatter's infamous slavery comments, opining that there are not too many slaves earning £6million a year. Even those of the modern variety

10.01 Bristol City have ditched plans to sign Egypt international Emad Meteb just days after announcing a club-record deal for the striker. Meteb agreed a three-year contract with City but then played for former club Al Ahly in the Cairo derby against Zamalek, against the Robins' strict instructions. However, Gary Johnson's side are hopeful of completing the signing of Coventry striker Michael Mifsud, as chairman Steve Lansdown admitted: "He took his partner around Bristol this weekend and liked what he saw." Who wouldn't?

10.12 Peruvian midfielder Nolberto Solano, who is never afraid to blow his own trumpet, believes he can play another season in the Premier League, but could link up with David Beckham in America as he is considering an offer from LA Galaxy boss Ruud Gullit.

10.28 Reading defender Andre Bikey has admitted that he would welcome the opportunity to move to France this summer. He told skysports.com: "To be honest, playing in the Championship has never been my ambition." How's that for loyalty, Royals fans?

10.45 Deportivo La Coruna defender Fabricio Coloccini's agent has claimed his client has been offered a move to Newcastle, with Kevin Keegan known to be looking to strengthen his backline.

10.51 It's that man again. Everyone is being asked about Cristiano Ronaldo, and Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon has backed Manchester United in their battle to keep the Portugal international. A rare display of unity from the fierce Premier League rivals.

And as we all know, an agent's word is his bond.

11.40 Harry Redknapp fears Portsmouth will miss out on signing Younes Kaboul because the South Coast club are third in line for the Tottenham defender behind Aston Villa and Sunderland. The Fratton Park boss seems to be back-tracking somewhat from his position on Saturday morning when he expected to land the French centre-back.

11.52 Leeds United manager Gary McAllister has revealed his intent to tie down Luciano Becchio on a permanent deal after the Argentine striker impressed on trial, but Canadian forward Marcus Haber has not done enough to earn a contract.
