    Re: The Transfer Thread

Player development and scouting is where a team like Spurs need to look too improve. Look at Leicester, they buy good players for £20-£40m and make them very good players. If Spurs spending all the Kane money on Sancho, that leaves us where we have been the last 5 years. A World Class player surrounded by average players.

What you're saying makes sense if Levy would spend to build around Sancho in the next few years. But he won't. He will spend the Kane money then spend £60m-ish the next few windows while selling a player here and there.

Losing Kane won't kill Spurs. Messing up the next manager hire will. That's the most important part of this summer.

Kane & Sancho won’t cost the same though. You’re going to get at least 30-40 more for Kane than what Sancho costs (recently reported as 80mil) so realistically you’ll be able to backfill Kane (somewhat) and still have enough to spend to build the squad out.

You add to that your normal transfer kiddie and other proceeds from player sales and you should have a decent amount of money to spend.

You're making the mistakes of thinking Levy is going to invest more than what we get for selling Kane. If he wouldn't open the pocket this season knowing it is possibly Kane's last, I don't see him doing it next season.

If he knew it was win now or lose Kane and he still decided to not but the CBs Jose wanted, I have zero faith Levy will spend now.

Sounding like the Kane thing is legit, and City want him (ugh). So the real question is, will Levy actually let him leave.

I'd be really surprised if Levy didn't let him go if a bid around £100m comes in. Keeping an unhappy Kane would make things 10x worse than they are.

Sell him and use the funds with the new manager.

Kane seems like he'd be unhappy and then get on with it, though. Score enough goals to make everyone go crazy and ask if this is the season Spurs win the title, then they won't, and repeat the same stories next year as we see right now.

For a few years it has seemed that he'll stay there a few years too long before eventually leaving for much less than he could've years earlier.

Maybe it actually happens now, but if I'm putting money on it, he'll stay after he's assured that new players will be brought in, etc.

I thought that could be a possibility until his interview today with Neville. That is the most "I want to leave" type interview he has ever done and the fact he said he's going to take to Levy makes me think he wants to go this time.

I'm 50/50 on if I want him to go or not the more I think if it. Rebuilding with the funds would be interesting but seeing him break records would also be fun.

Looked for some quotes and I can not believe he thinks he has "7 or 8" more years to play considering his injury history, and history of returning early from injury. I mean, I believe he wants to, but at the rate he's going his ankles are going to fall apart unless he takes time off when needed.

He's a very old 27 right now. The way he looks in matches some times, it already looks like a 34 year old striker working through the last of their matches.

****, I thought he was 30+ already. That dude is 27?

Yep—turns 28 in July. I for sure thought he was 30. Seriously—he looks like he's in so much pain so often. I honestly can see years down the line people using him as an example.

Looks like we are lining up replacing Wijnaldum with Yves Bissouma.

That would be a great move. Bissouma looks like he will be really good.

No other club will get as much hilarious, unnecessary praise for finding such an "unknown" Bissouma from pundits than Liverpool. You know, just liked they plucked Robertson from absolute obscurity. Nobody had even heard of him!

I might actually vomit due to it.

The vomit might be held in if they're criticized for allowing Wijnaldum to leave on a free.

Also looks like we're definitely going after Konate, who has made only 10 league appearances since the start of last season due to injuries. What could go wrong?

You're obviously signing Bissouma for center back cover—no worries.
