FYI, I read an article a few years ago that described the psychological effect that cartoonish colour palettes have on certain groups of gamers. Young people up into their 20s are attracted to bright colours. The colour palette used in EA's game, and in all their games, is not realistic for a reason. 2K looks more true to life. IMO 2K25, if there is one, would not need a new engine, it would need the deeper modes and better presentation that EA's game has.

you got that right, 2K looks miles better with the golfers and realism of the color.

only thing i think needs fixing, is for 2K to go back and update 2K19 courses "TPC Boston for example" and make it look as good as the 2K23 new courses. Big difference visually compared to TPC Boston and TPC Deere run.

Re: PGA TOUR 2K23 Impressions

2k's major property in the sports world is basketball. I don't see them spending major money updating the game engine if they can't even take the time to correct small details in the current game. Unity can look better it is a matter of finding the right artists to work on the game. Beach yep they need to update the designer this seems like the most cost effective thing they can do.

EA looks better in some respects but not all. Some of the courses look great some not as good as some say at least to my eye. Some of the trees look awful. Guess this is what happens when you have to design for the Series S.

Not going into the problems I see in EA's new game but I'll mention one. The putting has to be totally revamped head to toe. Oh and they need a whole lot more cameras. Looking at you Joe.

2k needs to find a way to get a real career mode in the game. While a fair number of designers haven't put out any courses this game we still have a lot that do. Boat load more than 30 courses.

Hats off to the guy who designed the female character for 23.

Re: PGA TOUR 2K23 Impressions

I enjoy so much about 2K23, but the swing timing has been pretty brutal for me. I’d say like 90% of my swings are slightly fast or slightly slow, but the 10% where it seemingly randomly hits Very Slow and the ball barely moves makes me want to scream lol. I think I may have to just turn the swing timing off.

Try this: Set difficulty to Pro-Am, it's still a challenge but forgiving enough that it won't drive you nuts. Now, very important, when you move the stick up to strike the ball, flick it, don't push it. Pushing the stick up and having you thumb on the stick when it strikes the ball, is what causes the miss hits.

And of course the club fittings are essential if you want to improve swing timing and so forth. I personally don't use them because I've found the perfect challenge on Pro-Am without the fittings.

I just caught this and I see what you did there, ha. And yes, those are quite the curves, hubba-hubba. I took a more comparative approach, I took a screen of the same golfer (me), on the same course, on the same hole, facing the same direction.

BTW, I have no issues with either game, they are what they are and both are enjoyable. Nevertheless I stand by my comments about EA's color palette, overall body appearance, and especially the generic golfer faces. Cheers.

EDIT: A factual tidbit I just checked up out... EA got the lighting correct. Both are mid-day, and EA has the sun coming in from the south to south-east. 2K has the sun in the north to north-west position.

Re: PGA TOUR 2K23 Impressions

I see a lot of guys are liking EA but the putting stance is all wrong. Too far away from the ball and the stroke needs to be entirely revamped. I happen to think the graphics in 2k23 are more than adequate for a golf game. I mean EA isn't exactly gonna make you forget about the graphics in AAA titles. Forget the gameplay and cameras. I'll leave it at that.
