The 'apply to all whatever clubs and all bags is there when you buy the specs, no idea why it's not there when you want to use it after that.

That is exactly the problem. Obviously as soon as I purchased a new club or spec, I clicked "equip to all", and I assumed it was being used in the subsequent round.

But after MAB informed me how to look at all of the clubs and specs that I've acquired, the only thing that was still "active" was my Titleist driver, which again is all cosmetic. None of the other skill specs that I "equipped to all" when I purchased them were being used for months, everything was defaulted back to the base EA stuff.

None of that stuff really matters though...my overall golfer ranking is mid 90s, but I still lose 4/5 of every 1v1 Match Play round and about 2/3 of all Foursome Match Play rounds. I feel bad for the people I get paired up with in Foursome matches lol. You would think that after hundreds and hundreds of hours with this game, I would at least be a little over .500 overall.

I really think it's because I've just been too lazy to really study the proven math that players have posted about, that you apply to every approach shot, which is where this game is won and lost for the most part. Driving is ridiculously easy, putting is pretty straightforward (other than Sim mode, I just can't get the hang of no grid even with the low cam view). For me at least, this game is won or lost almost exclusively with the 2nd shot, the Approach shot.

Memorizing the math of where to aim/how hard or soft to swing/what club to use...for instance, if it's 24 feet downhill from 160 yards out, with the wind in your face at 12mph, memorizing and being able recall the math of the above variables on the shot, and equating it to how many inches on the screen or up or down clicks on the D-Pad to place your aim marker, etc.

I would time out on every shot if I tried to do that lol. I just aim, pick my shot type and club, decide if I want to go High or Low with the left stick, and let it rip. Oddly enough, and I have no idea why, I do much much better in career mode. Most people I'm matched up with or against online are just ridiculously good.

Cheaters. :-)

Honestly, for me, going down the route of memorizing math on how to do every shot correctly completely ruins the whole fun and point of it all

Exactly. I'm sure there are many guys out there that have notes in front of them with the math laid out. What's the fun in that?

Of course it would be more fun to win more often, but I still have a blast loosing most of the time lol

It's all about the marker, like other golf games. I'm sure lots of guys have data for hole out but at the end of the day, most of those guys are playing for hours everyday to keep their standing in the game. They entered all the tournaments for every mode every day, play head to head online to get even more points. I looked at standings in every mode sometimes, it's almost all the same guys on top.

The game is almost one year old, it's automatic for those guys to know where to put the marker and get something close to perfect to hit the ball close to where they want it to go. Even with the random generation in the game.

I wonder if they shouldn't rethink the "marker" and have something less specific?

I’d have loved to see TW10s confidence circle return… the harder the shot, the bigger the room for error if I remember correctly.

The issue (speaking for myself, anyway) is that I think of real golf and how that applies to the game, vs. thinking of the game as purely a video game with no relationship whatsoever to the real game of golf. Once you break the link between video game and real life, I'll bet it then just becomes a game that you can "perfect", which is what all those online guys are doing (most of whom, I would be willing to bet, don't play much if any real-life golf). The same way you can 'perfect' your strategy through World 1-1 of "Super Mario Bros", that's what most of these guys are doing online.

Which is why I don't play with randoms, and these days, don't play online at all. I don't even have PS-plus anymore because it was a waste, having never really played online. The game is only really fun with like-minded friends or a heavily-curated group. In my opinion, of course.
