Mouse Swing - My #1 Request for EA PGA 23

My #1 request is for a Mouse Swing

Even if it's just the PC version that gets it, a good/great mouse swing is basically an expectation for PC golfers in the last 20+ years.

No Mouse Swing being in EA PGA 23 is also really disappointing because EA TW 2008 had a great mouse swing!!

I think many of us expected, rightfully so, that EA returning to the PC for the first real time since 2008 would have meant a mouse swing again.

Controllers are what they are. A mouse, with it's totally unconstrained range of motion is such a perfect fit for a golf swing

It allows so much potential, challenge, nuance, feel, swing path control.
A controller simply can't match it

Going back to a controller feels like a major regression if one is used to PC Mouse Swing golf.

EA: Please do a Mouse Swing for EA PGA 23!

I bought myself a Christmas present one year, a $100 trackball mouse just so I could play TW 08. Now that was a challenge, playing that game with a trackball mouse!

The following spring I adopted a 6 week-old kitten. He loved chewing on all the interesting cords dangling from my computer desk, one of which was the mouse cord. Now that was a challenge, not killing him after he trashed my $100 trackball mouse.

Mouse swing would get exploited surely. It must be the easiest swing method to manipulate in a golf game with its edging potential. Maybe an option for career would be a compromise but leaderboard hunters in competition would all be using it.

I mean no disrespect, but … “who cares?”

A ton of long long time PC golfers prefer playing with the Mouse due to the potential to shot shape and fully control the swing and timing and feel.

The challenge and reward can be immense!

Once the PGA Champ games came around, the game was totally changed for PC golf.
TW08 had a super responsive and wonderfully engaging one also.

Controller swings feel “on rails” and so much less fully engaging, especially on the risk and reward potential on every single swing. It’s just so hard to enjoy controller golf once you’ve gone mouse.

Cheaters always find ways to cheat.
Worrying too much about them degrades the actual product for everyone else.

The game doesn't even have 3C yet, let alone a Mouse Swing, and the "Cheaters" complaints are underway.

You simply can't worry about that with these games. It's been something folks have always complained about even if it has no merit.

Scagwi, I'm surprised there wasn't a mouse swing option in this game at launch. The Golf Club/PGA TOUR 2KXX has had one in it since launch, and from what I hear, it's pretty decent. I tried it a couple of times on the original Golf Club, but it wasn't fully refined and was hard for me to suss it out. I don't game at a desk anymore and my setup doesn't really afford me a way to comfortably use a mouse for gaming, so that alone has led me away from mouse gaming.

Anyway, I wanted to ask you this about mouse swings in this game; do you think the animation start lag - should it still be present with a mouse swing - would bother you much with a mouse? The lag is just killing me with the putting game in ESPT using the controller, even when I've backed the graphics down to allow 60 FPS. I feel like I'm spending the stick motion trying to get the animation to catch up with the stick... leading to a lot fast tempos and pushed putts.

Cheaters will always find a way. I know the Golf Club 1 and 2 were compromised by the ability to create dead zones in controllers, taking the swing path totally out of play... every shot went straight when the vertical axis had an infinite dead zone. It's why HB Studios eventually went with the counterintuitive practice of using the tempo to determine hook/slice. Tempo has more to do with pull and push in my experience, whereas swingpath determines hook or slice.

This is STILL my number one complaint about PGA TOUR 2K23 to this day as the physics of what's being modeled are bass ackwards. And it's all done in the name of trying to counter cheating!? There are probably controller tools now that allow and advanced API for regulating the tempo to perfect.

Do you see lag with all putts on all swings?
I don’t see it on any swing in the game on Xbox,PS5 or steam deck. Only place I see the putter delay is with Dustin Johnson because he’s using a huge putter. Try Niemann on all swing types & let me know if you see any issues.
