Re: PS Move with TW12-Yay or nay?

Just spent a good portion of this evening using the Move.

It is clunky. Would have been easier to just have a small directional pad or a combination of buttons to move around. I had to keep going back to the Dual Controller to line things up faster. Let me first say that I may not have figured it all out yet as it is complicated to use.

Once the shot is setup, I found it to be amazingly accurate! You hold the T-button underneath to mark the point on the floor or on a object such as a golf ball and then do your regular golf swing. It is so pinpoint that it picks up the slightest rotation of your wrists. This is much more accurate than the Wii controller. If your swing is crap.........expect to see it perfectly reflected in the outcome of your shot or putt.

This is going to take awhile to learn how to use and I probably should breakdown and get the navigational controller instead. Would anyone who has this recommend getting it or is it a waste since one could use the Dual Shock Controller?

As for recommending anyone to go out and buy it just for TW12............I can't do that. It is tough folks..........and if I can figure out how to use it in a more efficient way then I can see this being an absolute blast to play. However in its current state or my high learning curve..........it is a pain the arse to setup your shots and play.

I have a $100 Best Buy credit waiting to be spent. Should I take the plunge with that Move combo pack for $99? Is it worth it just for TW12. Have the demo issues been cleared up and is it markedly better than it was for TW11? How many skill levels are there? Do I need the nunchuk for the game or will the wand do?

I played TW10 with the Wii Motion+ and enjoyed it as a half decent simulation as well as the ease of use in aiming and just navigating with the remote. is the Move just as intuitive where I can have buddies come over and pick it up rather quickly and play like they did with the Wii version?
I think the simulation aspect is very high using the Move. Aiming seems to be complicated as you have to keep switching back and forth between controllers. Not sure what demo issues you are referring to as I didn't experience any problems using the Move. This is probably not something for anyone to just pickup and play without first having clocked in a bunch of time to be able to show others how to use it. All of the options / skill levels are the same. The only difference with anything is just selecting either a regular controller or the Move to use.

heyas everyone;

i'm pretty sure in the final version of TW12 there will be some kind of guide/help for move.players but b/c it seems the same questions r/g the move.controls pop up every so often in different threads i thought i post a quick guide on how to apply what with the move.controller.

just so to make the process of explaining a tad easier and not to confuse players who are new to TW, the ps3 and/or the move in general with stuff like "press the big button with the move-sign on, you know, the one between the 4 little buttons with the coloured icons ", i assigned numbers to the different move.buttons, as there are...

*) to disable caddie - press (4)
make sure to do this on the first hole of the round you play BEFORE you change anything else. if done any later you might run into the caddie on the very next hole again. pls be aware, even tho the caddie himself disappears from your screen, his voice and his shot.suggestions are still there. you may consider to set the caddie.voice.volume in your audio.settings to 0.

*) to switch back and forth between custom.shot and the shot(s) the caddie suggests - press (6) and (1) simultaneous OR press (6) and (3) simultaneous

*) to switch between clubs (pick a club) for your custom.shot - press (6) and (2) simultaneous OR press (6) and (4) simultaneous

*) to switch between shot.types (full, punch, chip, flop, pitch) for your custom.shot - press (1)

*) to check your lie and/or surface the ball is on - hold the move.controller downwards (point with the white sphere to the floor/ground and THEN press (5) and (6) simultaneous
do NOT press (5) and (6) BEFORE you have your move.controller in a downward position (no "waving" whilst the buttons are pressed)

*) to draw/fade your shot - point with the white sphere (lightbulb) on top of your move DIRECTLY to the screen, either on the left OR right side and THEN press (5)
do NOT to press (5) before you already pointed left (draw) or right (fade)

*) for lower loft - hold the move.controller UPRIGHT (like you would hold a bottle, the white sphere points to the ceiling) and THEN press (5)

*) for higher loft - hold the move.controller downwards (point with the white sphere to the floor/ground and THEN press (5)

*) to aim left/right/longer/shorter whilst viewing the hole from the t-box - until now i couldn't find a way to do this with the move.
from what i learned one can use the 4 arrow.buttons on the left.hand side of the ps3.dualshock.controller or the nav.controller.stick. if someone found a solution to achieve this with the move, pls feel free to add it here.

to actually change your aim with the move you have to ...

*) to switch to target.mode - hold the move.controller UPRIGHT (like you would hold a bottle, the white sphere points to the ceiling) and THEN press (5) and (6) simultaneous.
here as well i would recommend NOT to press (5) and (6) BEFORE you have your move.controller in a upright position. (no "waving" upwards required)

*) to aim left/right whilst beeing in target.mode - point with the white sphere (lightbulb) on top of your move DIRECTLY to the screen, either on the left OR right side and THEN press (6)
again, make sure NOT to press (6) before you already pointed in the direction you want your shot to go

*) to aim longer whilst beeing in target.mode - hold the move.controller UPRIGHT (like you would hold a bottle, the white sphere points to the ceiling) and THEN press (6)
and again, do NOT press(6) BEFORE you have your move.controller in a upright position. (no "waving" upwards required)

*) to aim shorter whilst beeing in target.mode - hold the move.controller DOWNWARDS (point with the white sphere to the floor/ground) and THEN press (6)
again, do NOT press (6) BEFORE ou already pointed downwards, it only complicates matters.

^^ the last 4 aiming.procedures as well as the methode via ps3.dualshock.controller (with the 4 arrow.buttons) or the nav.controller.stick are also how you aim once you are on the green and in putting.mode

*) once you decided which shot you want to execute and are done with all your adjustments (loft, spin, aim, etc), press (2) to change into the actual shot.mode.

*) if at one point you think you may have done something wrong in the process of aiming or adjusting, you can press the (select) button on the left.hand side of your move at any given time to RESET your shot to the initial situation.

Wow I dont get the whole having to push buttons simultaneously to do something. I'm sure its easier to do then it appears but wouldnt you thought they would have made using the move to navigate around just as easy as a DS3?

Re: PS Move with TW12-Yay or nay?

I played with the MOVE for a few hours the other night and was quite impressed actually.

It took one hole before I had the buttons totally down, though it was confusing at first. When you got it, you can line up shots as fast as the DS3 IMO.

Accuracy seemed pretty well implemented as I could tell by where my wrist was at impact whether I hit a good shot at night. I didn't run into a "pull problem" as was mentioned for those who used the MOVE on the demo.

I thought putting was VERY smooth, but seems a little more forgiving than does the DS3.

I can say I never used anything but the MOVE controller to navigate menus and aim my shots. Like I said, there is a learning curve but it is very simple once you get used to it.

Overall I can say it is definitely fun but something I won't use as much in career mode as I would if playing with friends, family, etc... More so because I like to sit down and just use my DS3.

Re: PS Move with TW12-Yay or nay?

I tried TW12 with the move last night and the ball "striking" felt very good - I played on Pro / Tour Pro and found it challenging.

I found putting a little awkward - I don't know if I should be looking down or at the putt meter but I end up doing neither and making a mess of it. The putting action itself felt smooth though.

I didn't try True-aim with Move in the demo and it certainly adds immersion and challenge.

The aiming with the move is much improved over the demo but is still a little clunky. The only real problem I have is I can't see how to change clubs with the move alone - need to use L2 or R2 on the DS3 ? Otherwise I was able to do it all with the Move.

I had completed a fairly tough workout and whilst playing was fun it wasn't that relaxing.

Really nice alternate to swing sticks though - made me get it on PS3 rather than 360 - I thought the 360 had better looking graphics and a better framerate in the demo.

Anybody who has the Move it's well worth trying - not sure it will replace the usual way of playing but I may create a separate career for Move ? Can we do that ?

Cheers

Re: PS Move with TW12-Yay or nay?

The Move is simply "a game changer."

Wow, TW 2012 is simply an entirely different/new game when using the Move controller. Although its a bit aggravating to aim using the Nav controller, its a minor annoyance. Played a round last night and the game simulates golf very well using the move controller.

Definitely a MUST HAVE for PS3 owners.

MAN i can't wait to pick up the move for TW 12. I'm trying to be patient as I'm purchasing it with the SOCOM 4 bundle since it seems to be a good deal for the $. Honestly, having a motion controlled golf game has been a dream of mine for quite a while.. haha.
Even with it's few shortcomings, I think I will be obsessed with TW12 for a while. Thanks for all the impressions guys! Keep em coming..
